Anyone know if ford has a part# available for the 2000 cobra r head yet? It's supposedly going to be on the gt40's 5.4. If not how far off from the R's specs would you say the hi-flow cobra head is in the FRPP catalog? That one is supposed to be the one used on the FR500. Really thinking about a DOHC head swap and just wanting to get some info.

P.S. If I told Ford I had a R with a blown head would they get me one?

 

Or maybe one of the R guys over on the svt perf board would order a pair for you, test it out for the rest of us??

 

The Cobra R 4v heads will not mate up to the Lightning intake. You would have to also get the intake on the Gt-40 and that for sure isn't available yet if ever.

The Cobra-R heads are unique castings. They are not the same as the Navigator or the 4.6 32v. As of about 6 months ago SVT had none in stock and no intensions of building more. Also will not mate to the Lightning intake without major cutting, welding, and machining.

 

There are fr500 heads advailbe @ 1600 bucks oh and thoose are bare by the way, youll need internals for them. The 4v heads that are on the new 03 cobra are better then the heads on the 01 and older motors, better then the navigator heads but not as good as the FR500 heads. I was told that they are equal to the cobra r heads. But youll need some modifing to the get FR500s to work, im sure the same is with the 03 cobra heads. As far as I have been told you can not get any motor parts for the 00 R, except the block, and they had no intintions on building any. Besides I belive you will have to prove ownership of a true 00 r to get them even if they did come out with them.
