Question That is very strange

I saw the '99s without the dark tint and I remember the option list for the truck was very short. Just a couple of things like soft tonneau. I didn't see anything about a dark tint option.

Is this what you mean by dark tint?

Nope, mine was dark tint like the Expeditions have in the rear. I know for a fact it came like that since it was at a dealer that way brand new. Maybe a dealer add-on?......

Tint was not an option for 99 and it was either a dealer install or factory screw up.

Unless I am wrong you could paint the rear window and make it totally blacked out. As long as you have mirors on both sided you don't even have to have a back window. Look at all the work vans with solid metal rear doors, or tractor trailers with sleepers on them. As long as the side windows are legal you can do what ever you want to the rear window.

YUP!!!!
usually............

I think Dons Bolt is correct on doing anything to the rear window in most states. Some states I think, don't even let the factory tint the rear windows.
