What up with the Chev SS?
What up with the Chev SS?
Unfortunately there's still critics to the Lightning's performance. Guys check out my ride, experience it first hand racing against me, see me race, etc. A lot of them then say that I should've waited for the 475hp Chev SS that's coming out next year. Not the SSR, but the other S/C'd Chev SS truck. I haven't really heard to much about this thing. Tried doing a search but didn't come up with much.
Anyone know what the specs are for it, production date, stats, etc?? Pics?
There's also some guy around that I think is talking smack. Says he has his Dodge SRT10 on order and should be here in August. I laughed. Both at the fact that I thought there hasn't been any release dates for it yet, and due to the fact that I told him that I'll still win the race that he's trying to egg on. Not to start ANOTHER srt10 debate, but does anyone know if it's at all possible to be ordering these things yet?

No one can confirm the production date of either one, or what the finished product will have underhood. anyone who has either one "on order", is a big fat stupid stinking liar, or something

On the LS1 forum there is a guy who is posting that he saw the preproduction truck unveiled in Phx with the rest of the Chevy '03 truck offerings. It is supposed to be available in '03 (exact date unknown)
The info that he gave is:
X-cab
AWD
6.0 supercharged
20" wheels (10" front, 11" rear)
lowered from the factory
Basically it is a C3 with a supercharger. Should be expensive, heavy (the C3 weighs over 5000lbs without a supercharger), and not much of a sport truck in my book (people who have supercharged C3's have not been very impressive). However it is easy for Chevy to do as they already have the C3 to work off of.
Anyway, there is your info. Alot of GM people are not pleased. They are using the "well I guess we could mod it to keep up with the L's." LOL

A friend of mine wants to get the SRT-10, he said he went to the dealer and you start reserving them soon and they are due to be out early next year (Jan.-Feb.)
I don't want to start an argument or anything but that dodge is going to be bad *** and it would be cool to go crusing down the streets (him in his dodge, me in my L) looking for races.
Regarding the Silverado SS judging by the concepts they have made in the past, one way or another that truck is gonna be real cool and really fast.

Thanx for the info guys.
By the looks of things, appears that the Silverado SS will be competition with the new Harley D. F150 than the Lightnings.........IF it makes it on the streets.
As for that retro styling SSR that's slated for production, I'm not worried about that either. The concept version has the LS1 engine I think it was. But the production version only has around 260hp.
And as for the SRT10, well, that's a differrent topic all together that has been beat to death already in 3 other threads.
Keep on truckin'
