Can I Win This Race??
There is a guy in town were I live that has a Chevrolet with a 5.3 V8. He has a chip, filter system, exhaust system, & just added a blower (supercharger). He wants to race me. Right now my truck is bone stock but I have the JDM Stage 1 Kit & a Exhaust System waiting to be put on. Should be in by next weekend. How do you guys feel this race will go. Could I will with stock truck or should I wait for my mods. How close will it be??? Thanks for any help!
That motor starts out at 285hp and 320ft/lbs of torque. Figure a max of 40% increase for a supercharger (using the stock computer/injectors)... 399 crank horsepower... or ~327hp at the rear wheels (18% w.a.g. powertrain loss).
Thats a very optimistic guess too... and would require about 8-10 pounds of boost. If he is running less, he will be slower.
Likely you would win, as your truck is setup to go fast from the factory, with better suspension and engine management for handling a supercharged setup.
Try em... then either be a gracious winner or a civil loser, it'll be fun either way.

You didn't say if it was a standard cab short bed or extended cab. Most of those trucks run ok but they do not hook up as good a Lightning. You have to remember SVT made our trucks for performance, GM didn't do that with the suspension on their trucks. I would leave light and smoke him. You should be fine.
Take him,
Last year when my L was bone stock 'cept for an Airaid and Borla exaust, I beat a single cab 5.3 V8 Supercharged pretty bad. This guy was also running headers/chip/exaust. Like the rest said, these L's were meant to go fast from factory. It is much harder to get a reg. truck to go as fast as 13.8 or faster without alot of tuning.

Are you kidding???? He won't even be close. Not a chance that Chubby will run a 5.4 0-60 and 13.8 (which is what your will run bone stock).

You'll tear that guy apart!
take your front sway bar off, and run a 1/4 tank of gas and lower your tire pressure a little just to get some good traction, and if you really want an edge, pull you air filter out of the stock box and then cut a large hole in the bottom of it for more boost. If you still not happy, then get ride of the spare tire and hitch and do a VHT or PEPSI burnout. that will give you some better traction to compensate for the weight, but you'll go faster.

go for it. You lose, then you lose. You win, then you win. Either way do you really care that much?
Since you have the stage 1 you could also throw the filter kit and chip on in less then hour. So do that before the race.

Don't sweat it
I guarantee you will win, I promise.
It will a nice race, wish I could see his face afterwards.
L's, like we all know are impressive.
Don't worry.
I did take his mods in to consideration and Im not blowing smoke up your a$$.

Just some numbers from a chevy site for you all to chew on. You'll most likely win, but never assume any race is a given...
