Smile Should I put Lightining . . . . on my Expy?

Nope, not badges.

I want better seats! the OEM buckets they put in these things suc&. I test drove an 'L' and like the seats in it a WHOLE lot more. (well motor too, hum, the whole truck really, but I needed room for the fam)

um, as my signature says, I want to install seats (or maybe just a drivers side, who cares about passangers anyway) that offer better lateral support. A seat cover or re-upolstery job will not do it.

I have looked at Recaro and several others and thought since y'all in the lightining forum (unabased suckup) seem to :

1) have the most knowledge members
2) have the most active forum
3) have the most experiance tuners
4) have the most modified / customized trucks

someone here must have experiance with this topic, maybe someone has even replaced their Lightining seats and would like to turn their old seats into a little mod money

:rolleyes

Depends on your classification of 'better' really.

more lateral support vs. cruising comfort.

The Lightning seats are a good middle of the road seat based on the above criteria.

For comfort, The HD seats are NICE! and more than likey would bolt right in (no pun intended)

I have a complete set out of my 2000 L. Taken out at 15,000 miles. No smoke, food, or drink. E-mail me.

Have you ever sat in /road in an Expy? It wouldn't take much to be an improvement in either area To me, lateral support is almost totally non-existant in the OEM seats, the leather is even worse as they are slick as well.

as a matter of fact, I have. Drove a buddies for a week. HATED those seats so I'm with ya on their comfort level (or lack thereof) Feels like you have a soccer ball for a lumbar support and NO lateral support.

Lightning seats really arent all that great. They ARE very comfortable on long hauls, but the lateral support is non-existent and that fake suede crap is really uncomfortable and gets annoying.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Please remember budget is an issue, otherwise I'll never be able to get the that blower

I agree, the seats in my EBX suck. Just looged 1700 miles on them this weekend. Would have rather been in the L.

My wifes 96 EB explorer seats are very comfy, similar to the L in the size, shape, and comfort. Might be able to find some used explorer seats easier and cheaper.

I agree. The HD interior is really nice. I don't know if you'd be able to find one at a reasonable price. You might also consider having a local upholstery trim shop build up the bolsters and re-cover the seats for you.

IMO: I probably would have bought an 02 HD instead of an L, if it didn't have all that "Harley-Davidson(tm)" all over it. I know, I could de-badge it. But, I ride a Moto Guzzi, and I'd always know.

They shoulda had a "Leather and Chrome" edition instead. It would have been perfect.

Petrol,

Yup I would recommend looking elsewhere. Recaros are my personal fave (got em in my saleen) but yeah they can be kinda pricey.
