5w/30 and a Motorcraft FL820S Filter. I started her on this at 10,000 miles. I now have 25,000 miles. Never made any unusual noises, ever.

There is ONLY ONE oil worthy of my Lightning's engine. Don't even think of any other for yours. You must use the oil that is listed in my sig.

I'm just kidding guys!

There are several, high quality, synthetic oils--Amsoil, Mobil 1, Redline, and Royal Purple(their 'racing' oil is a full synthetic while their 'street' oil is a blend). My point is, get a synthetic oil. Its protection(it does not 'drain' off of the bearing and wear-surfaces like dino oil does so dry starts are reduced) and its ability to not breakdown in ultra-high temps are just two reasons to use a synthetic.

I started using RP at 4,000 miles(now have 27,300) and I use the K&N Gold oil filter which is a good filter and it has a 1" 'nut' on the bottom for easier removal.

I use Mobil 1 and a Mobil 1 filter. Most use Mobil 1 because its a good product and easier to find than the rest.. Plus if you are like me, I'd rather someone else change the oil, then you are pretty much limited to Mobil 1 if you are going to use a synthetic.

Be advised that the 2001's call for 5w-20 not 5w-30. Mobil One will be releasing the 5w-20 soon.

I use Amsoil 5W-30, and will do so regardless of the manufacturer specs. It gets way too warm down here in FL for me not to want a bit more viscosity under higher temps. -20 helps Ford to improve their corporate average fuel economy ratings...

I use Penziol 5w-30 now with the Ford filter. On the next oil change, I am changing to synthetic, probably Mobil 1.

Castrol 10-30 synthetic and Fram PH-2. No trouble yet.

I Have been runing it for 20,000 miles without a single problem. I think it runs better with it. I have tried them all and Amsoil is the best I have tried!! Just my .02 cents worth Good Luck!!!
