WRX..... wow !
I raced a guy from a 40 roll and complety DESTROYED him. I gave him the jump and that put a car length space between us and I blew by him like he was standing still in about 5 seconds. I talked to the guy afterwards and he said it was stock and that he just got it a week ago. I told him mine was stock also

IMO I like those cars. Who cares about looks, it's a reasonable performance sedan. Whats it's competition in the $25k range, RSX and Celica? They may both beat it out in handling wise, but all wheel drive is better for year round driving and the turbo puts it up in power and acceleration, plus it has more room then either of them.

The WRX is a total PIG unti the boost hits around 4,000 rpms. I had a car just like that, a 1989 Porsche 944 Turbo (951). The car is still the fastest car i've owned (had minor mods) but even a Soccer Mom would have beaten me in her mini van to 25mph. Sick and wrong fast on the freeway but waiting for the boost to build is something I got sick of real fast.

I have been shopping for a WRX to replace my 4X4 Dakota. I have driven three. I did not like the wagon I drove with the auto tranny. Takes too long for boost to build up. The auto has its own traction control package which seems very complicated. The other two were the five speed manuals. The last one had the short throw shifter.
I got a chance to run the wagon and the short throw manual pretty hard and I was impressed with the manual. The throttle response was much better than the wagon. The little sucker can haul and handles quite well. Feels very solid at 3065 lb. curb weight. Big brakes too. Lots of air bags.
I was impressed. I thought it quite a package for the price. And, I want all weather traction, small size, and low-to-the-ground entry, and a trunk (at least). Also, it comes loaded with quite a few options.
Alls the reviews I have read so far are quite positive. I think it is a great buy for the money if you like smaller cars.
I am thinking about waiting for the WRX STi to come out with about 261 HP and 250 lb. of torque. Rumors are it will be a 2003 and released around the end of 2002 or early 2003. I am sure it will cost more than 227 HP, 217 lb torque standard WRX.
Some of the other cars in its class and performance level cost $10K or more than the WRX.
The WRX would have been sold earlier in the States except for the emission certification.

Also with the BBS wheels with out them it look's chezzy! Good thing i got to drive it befor i raced him ! lol I would like silver one Please..........
Price point on STi... forget it
If ya wanna wait for the STi or even the EVO VII and price was one of you attractions to the WRX in the first place... hold on to your hat... from what I hear... it'll be close to if not over 30K... the EVO will even be worse...
I think the cars are neat... but not in the low to mid 30's...
