New Plugs And FT Valve Body Installed
New Plugs And FT Valve Body Installed
First,
I would like to give thanks to Will Gordon, a.k.a. "spanky777will" for the install work on my new TR6s' and Factory Tech Valve Body (Gregg Evans autographed it, to boot!). He did an EXCELLENT job in a minimal amount of time. Don't let his age or looks fool ya, HE IS ON THE BALL!!! Very knowledgeble. He has great customer service ethics. I would DEFINATLY go back to Will for future work on the L. And the best part is his prices!!! After contacting a couple of dealers and tuners, Will's prices were 1/3 of what their prices were!!! Excellent Will!!! KUDOS to you!!!
Second,
After Sal's and Lisa's reccomendations (PSP) I went with the TR6s'. Truck is stock. I drove home from spanky777will's place yesterday and the throttle tip in was more crisp. On a side note, 3 plugs (original) were loose. There is less carbon/soot in the exhaust tips. Gas mileage seems to be improving as well (gas gauge is moving a little slower, HAHA). Throttle response, in general, is improved! Thank you PSP for your suggestions/expertise.
Third,
I purchased Factory Tech's Vavle body from PSP (Thanks again Sal and Lisa). It is an EXCELLENT mod/improvement to the trans!
This is the way the Ls' should have shifted from the factory! It is as if the L jumps to the next gear! I am GLAD that I decided to have it installed! Not to mention the Gregg B. Evans autograph, almost like a rock star, ALMOST! Thanks Gregg!
I LOVE THIS WEBSITE!!! (Sorry about the long post)

Glad to hear everything went well for you on sunday! I may need to do the plugs on mine soon. You say the throttle response was improved, how about the idle if you were experiencing and roughness? Thats the main reason I want to get new plugs in.
spanky777, you may have another customer soon if I don't try and tackle the job myself.

Were the TR6's recommended because you are pushing more boost? I am going to put in the Tr5's because I am still pushing stock boost and dont plan on swapping out any pulleys. Are the Tr5's fine for stock boost applications? Or should I go with the Tr6's.
BTW- Installed the PSP Fast Air and filter this weekend and it kicks a$$. The blower whine is extreme and I definatley feel it pull alot harder. Thanks PSP! Will post pics later.
Also installed the Bedrug and I love it. So does my girlfriend!

RhinoSlug,
I had the TR6s' installed as per recommendation of Sal at PSP. I am not running extra boost. Although there are guys that have installed the TR5s' (spanky777will has TR5s' installed, he loves 'em), Sal recommends the TR6s'. If you go to the PSP web site, Sal doesn't even list TR5s' for sale.
LightninSVT,
I think the idle is a little more smooth, there is a little roughness to 'em though. I think the idle is improved. But, there is less carbon/soot in the exhaust tips. FT Valve body is EXCELLENT. More authoritative shifts, almost feels like the truck jumps into the next gear. It only took me about 1.5 hours to get to Will's place. He met me at the local 7-11 and escorted my back to his place. Will found 3 plugs that were slightlyloose/loose. Plug tips (not all) looked a bit carboned up. I think the mods were worth it!

I did the same thing this weekend too, plus a few other things! Gregg signed mine also. but while I was at it, I drained the torque converter and fill the tranny with Amsoil synthetic ATF. You are right, that this is the way it should have shifted from the factory.
While all of my customers are specail to me, I sign all the valve bodies so I'll know it was one of mine if anything ever goes wrong. The accumulators are gauranteed for life, if anything goes wrong with one I'll replce it free, no matter where you got it, including if you gotit used off of E-bay etc....
Glad you like it,
G
