Need help with launch
How do some of you guys get such a great launch and 60' time? I went to the track for the first time this year with my traction bars and slicks and was disappointed. The best 60' time I got was a 1.91. I made about 15 runs trying different methods, pressures, and tightnesses on my traction bars. Does my truck just lack the power or am I just missing the boat on the launch? My buddy watch me launch and said I didn't spin hardly at all and the truck jumped off the line, but looked slow. Please help. Thanks, Jason

I am truely puzzled on this one.
If you launched, had no spin and only pulled a 1.91 with the mods in your sig, I would have to say something is wrong with your truck (program). I pull 1.83-1.84 short times with only a 4# lower and we are in the same weather (Michigan).
I run my ET Streets @ 16psi cold.

Any spin is enough to KILL your 60ft times. What kind of 60ft times are you looking for? Stock converter with your mods, I'd say at least high 1.6's, low 1.7's. Do you realize how fast 2tenths of a second go by if your spinning.
Here's what I do(Sportsman Tree):
Do a burnout:
Smokey on E.T. streets, a little smoke to clean F1's
Pull up to pre-stage:
Pre-stage, put in neutral, BLIP throttle to about 3000rpm or so to pull in cool air, put back in drive.
Pull to stage:
Stage, hold brake and take revs to 1200
Wait for third yellow light to come on.
Mash gas pedal to floor and release brake at the same time.
I have had great results with this technique.
On my 99: Stock with F1's---------------1.94 60ft
w/converter and E.T.s------1.68 60ft
On my 02: Stock with F1's---------------1.90 60ft
w/E.T.s and Lakewoods----1.74 60ft
I run my E.T. streets at 22-24 psi. All I have for mods are a filter kit, 4# pulley, Lakewood traction bars, and JDM chip.
Hope this helps,
Jason

Hey:
I am beginning to wonder if I haven't been late getting on the gas after letting go of the brake. The truck would roll out (especially with the motor revved to 1000), start the clocks, and then the truck takes a hair to react after mashing the gas. It could definitely account for some lost ET and low mph.
If the truck is already rolling, it could also explain why I am not getting any wheelspin when I mash the gas.
Its kind of a stretch, but I am going to try and get some video next time I am at the track.

Hey:
I was planning on showing up at 5 this saturday to try and get some better times.
I figured the night racing would probably also help me see if cooler weather would improve the truck's performance. I am bringing ice also.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My plan had been to buy parts from people at WFC, but I want to get the thing running good before I go slapping bolt-ons on it.
Thanks
Steve

I called JDM Monday and told them my dillema. I know that my truck is starving for fuel. I have to get the fuel pressure checked one more time now that I know the idle pressure. They told me that they could program more fuel into it from what I understood. I also ordered a 2400 stall torque converter and 3:73 gears that should be here tomarrow morning. That's when I get to pick up my truck from the body shop where I got the new hood done. I am also putting my 6 pound pulley back on. They said as long as the fuel pressure is right and my truck isn't screwed up it will run much better. My 1/8 times were in the 8.3 range which isn't bad the top end sucks and the 60' times also stink. Hopefully if they are right I will be mid to low 12's if they know what they are talking about. And I think they do.
