Need advice on good road race simulation games
I just got a new computer so I can now handle the road race simulation games out there. When I was road racing in my L one guy told me that he road races on his computer and it's helped him a lot. Does anyone have any suggestions for road race games. I'm not interested in an oval track. I want road courses. I also want to look into racing others online, but I don't know anything about this. I haven't bought the steering wheel and pedals yet. Thanks. Tom
I have an older game I enjoy. Sports Car GT. Pretty fun. You get to setup the car (suspension, brakes, etc). Get to run on a bunch of tracks I used to race on. The track detail is very and accurate.
Gran Turismo 3 cannot be beat. It also helps you get familiar with the tracks that are actually raced on.
If you want a little more pressure, try Grand Theft Auto 3. Nothing like stealing a car from the mafia and having all hell break out.

Gran turismo is the best racing game made. Gran Theft Auto is real fun but not really a racing game.(if you do get it though get a hooker to get in your car and go to an alley) Its hella funny

Cant comment on Grand Turismo byut have heard good things as mentioned above.
My pick
EA Sports F1 2001, hands down. It's in the game!!
F1 2000 and F1 2000 Championship Season are also good.
Another GREAT and HARD game is Grand Prix Legends
for patches, car setups, car skins, file editors, etc, check out

NASCAR racing 4 is a great sim for the 2 road tracks. Can almost 'feel' the car get loose going into the corners. I love racing at Watkins Glen and Sonoma. Graphics are first rate also. Can't wait until 5 comes out later this year.
Some good road racing sims:
Grand Prix Legends <-- old but still one of the best sims ever made
F1 racing championship is great, but the AI is so-so
Grand Prix 3
F1 2002 is due out the end of this month. EA's race sims are ok, but i hear the new 2k2 is going to be good, but who knows.

I am late to the party on this one, but here is my list.
First get a decent wheel, I use the Momo Force
For pure road racing simulation nothing can beat these 2:
1. NASCAR Racing 2002 by Papyrus - In full simulation mode, Sears Point will kick your ***, I promise that. The Glen is great too
Nothing quite like throwing around 3400 lbs on skinny tires with 800HP on a little narrow track like Sears Point.
2. Grand Prix Legends -try Zandvort, then Monaco, and finally learn the Ring, lol
For a little less serious fun:
1. Sports Car GT
2. Viper Racing
