Chip question, what should i do??
I live in Arizona where we have 91 (crappy) Octane fuel with additives. My mods are in my sig. I run the JDM J68 chip (aggressive) with Torco race gas additive to raise the octane to around 94. The chip is fine for 93 Octane. I got no pinging with this. Without Torco, it pings BAD!! Justin said i could go to the J39 chip which is good for our gas but it will cost me .1 in the quarter mile (a car length) and about 20HP. Here's what i'm trying to figure out:
I spend about $40 per month on Torco or around $500 for a year. What could i add for $500 to give me back the power if i switch to the J39 and no Torco? I don't think the throttle body is that much power. Any ideas??

If you are only trying to get it back to like 93 or 94 you can use the simple fuel additives at your auto parts stores to get that. Only like $5.00 a can instead of $11. Why dont you get a flip chip and have one for the 91 and have a race program for 100oct and only use the Torco at the track???

From doing much research, the "octane boosters" at the local parts store are horrible to put into any motor. Torco isn't an octane booster, it's a "race fuel concentrate" which safely raises the level of octane.
I really want to have the truck as fast on the street as it is at the track. One of the reasons i've never used NOS for any of my vehicles. I like the power all the time any time.
I'm just trying to decide if i'm better off going with the "slower" chip and adding something else to gain back the power and just run the crappy 91 octane. Hmmm....

You could leave the chip in that you like, or raise is for one that needs higher octain and install an alcohol/water injection system for around $500 bones. Then you can start running pump gas and dial up the alcohol to where you like to run it. It will only cost you $0.59 a liter at your local grocery store and a bottle will last for a few tanks.
I'm getting ready to put an alcohol/water system on my truck as soon as I get my pulley on. Then maybe a little reprogram work on my switch chip....

Look at it this way, most everyone else around you has 91 octane as well, and not many are going to run $11 race concentrate per tank for every day driving. The flip chip with 91/additive is a good thought.
I don't know what you could add that would get you the 20hp back for $500. You could go to a 6# pulley and have JDM burn your chip for the 91 octane and see what that combo nets vs. the 4# and 93 octane that you currently have.
I've struggled with this as well, maybe one day I'll come to my senses and move...
