Favorite Brand of tranny fluid
Getting ready to put in the factory tech shift kit and was wondering what everybody's choice of transmission fluid BRAND is. Also, how often do you perform tranny fluid changes, and under what kind of conditions do you put your trucks through to necessitate when you change it?

Oh man, get ready for some interesting replies to this one!!!
I like Castrol DexIII/Mercon.
I change it every 30k, with the filter.
It sees normal service duty- no hardcore drag racing, just the occasional hot lap around PIR's Road Course.

At 20,700 miles I had a local quick lube shop pump in Redline's synthetic D4 fluid. There were no trans problems. I just thought the synthetic would stand up better to weekly 1/4 mileing and daily driving. It's expensive--about $9/qt and it took 15 qts.

LIGHTNINROD,
15 qts??? Stock is 17qts, and if you have a deep sump pan its 18... might want to check your level just to be safe... if you have a smaller pan or something, then just tell me to shut the **** up!

bc:
We kept the pump pushing the new fluid in while watching the color of the old/new flowing out. As the two 'flows' came close to being the same color, you can conclude that most (d/k if you can get all of it out this way?) of the old fluid had been forced out. I've rechecked it a couple of times
I kept an extra qt. for topping off purposes, if needed.
Thanks for making sure I'm not messing up my trans

No flame/dis intended, just didn't want anyone fudging their L... I know the filter can also hold a quart or two... perhaps that where the inconsistency is/was...
anyhow... I'm going to install my deep sump and line mod this weekend... so I'll have to see how much fluid I use... perhaps the L's manual (the extra SVT manual) isn't accurate!?
Anyhow, I can't wait. I want a firmer shift!

I used Castrol's DexIII/Mercon too. I still haven't gotten the trans fluid level quite right, so be prepared to check it for 2-3 days in a row after doing the swap out/refill.
The big problem I have had is that I check it after coming home, so it's a 20 minute drive, everything's warm. I run it through all the gears, leave it in park with the engine running, and the level's slightly low. I then throw in like 1/4 quart of fluid extra, and checking the level is now impossible, as the fluid's all over the dipstick, no matter how many times I wipe it off and put it back in. Have to go drive it around again and then check again... so I just wait until the next day.
