let me get this strait....calling L guys

From what i have been reading on this site all the L owners seem to have a problem with f-150's that are modded to be fast but aren't lightnings. I have to say i own a 99 reg cab/flare side. Its lowerd and will soon have the new front end i bought
(not a fake L one) installed as well as the sir micheals pan i have.
The only svt products it will have are the side skirts(only nice ones out there) and head lamps/corners (just look alot nicer). I had planned on either installing a 8 or 9 psi blower when i change my chip. So are you guys going to accuse me of faking a lightning? Dont get me wrong, Lightnings are badd azz. I bought my truck when the L came out and they were impossible to get unless you wanted to pay out your a$$ for it. But before you couldn't just buy a suped up truck from a showroom you had to build one up your self. I dont see anything wrong with it. L badges on a non L is a joke i agree. Anyone see what i mean though?

im just tired of fat F1's getting trashed because they arent svt is all.

I don't have a problem with it...I really don't think the badges are cool on a "non" Lightning tho...IOW don't try to actually pass it of as a lightning. There is nothing wrong in trying to make your ride look good:!:!:!:

Personally, I don't care what you do with your truck as it's Your Truck! I say have fun with it. If you build it up enough, maybe, just maybe, you can surprise an L owner or two!

im sure someone will probably give you ***** about having the L ground effects but on here, for the most part, as long as you dont have L badges I dont think anyone will flame you. Let us know how the blower turns out.

I've been on here a long time, maybe I've missed some of the stuff your talking about or chose to ignore it.

Anyway, if a regular f150 puts on Lightning/SVT badges, rims, ground effects, rims, and lowers it to the same height, thats something that should be called out as a fake, b/c thats blatently being an imposter. No different from putting 'typeR' badges on an integra and passing it off as a real typeR.

Now if some has a 4x4 f150 with a lightning bumper and other stuff done up to it, no problem. Actually 1 guy around me has one like that and it is a sweet looking truck.

Who is it that comes to the lightning section every now and then, Chipper?, anyway he has a red f150 with lightning rims, again it looks great, but he's not trying to be fake.

Flatsman has fast truck and from the pictures I saw at FFW in atlanta(???) looks like he was having a great time with everyone there.

Im glad to see that you guys think that way. I argree completely about the L rims/front end/badges on a non L. That is strait up impostering as something you shouldn't. I dunno I fell in love with a front peice i found from street scene (gen3) and the rollpan is just way sweet. When its all done it will resemble a lightning im sure but its a reg cab/flare side, so what ya gonna do, ya know? No matter what it will resemble one. Flatsman's truck gets tons of my respect. I have written him a few times about various mods he has and he has always been cool about it.
I would like to go check out the local f1's and lightnings here in tampa but the only guy i have talked with is rich. (tampasvt) He hooked me up with where to get the roll pan and the smooth side steps I needed. Ill put up some pics as she comes

Your ok with us, It doesn't bother me either. I don't even really care when someone does the complete look, (front bumper cover, painted rear bumper, ground efects, rims, side exhaust, etc) they might be pushing it a little when they put on the SVT and Lightning badges but that really doesn't even bother me. The fact of the matter is that a Lightning is bad news period, and if someone races a clone and smokes it with a 16 sec ride and still thinks it was a real Lightning than they have some real issues to deal with. A stock Lightning runs anywhere from low 13's to low14's.
And then when they tell there friends how they smoked a Lightning and one of them tries a real one, thats when the respect comes back.
So have fun with your truck and do what ever you want to it, it is yours afterall.
Bill

You can do whatever you want with your truck. Have fun. Drop a big block and a 20psi blower in it. Slam it, add 20" wheels, Bilsteins, 5 coats of hand rubbed lacquer, and some ground effects. GREAT! You'll have one hell of a nice truck.

*BUT* ... if you slap a "Lightning" badge on something without an SVT VIN, it makes you worse than a wannabe. It makes you a thief and a LOSER. You would deserve absolutely no respect. Just don't do it.

YMMV.

Heck, I like the L wheels and other stuff. If I had a reg f150, I'd probably bolt on all the stuff except the badges. I think the Lightning badges aren't a 'bolt-on' item, they're a 'wannabe' item. But heck, if someone wants to build a fake L, I just remember that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."

back up a sec ....

I never said I had any beef with lightning guys bro. But I wanted to clarify this "wannabe" thing for my own piece of mind. After all I wanted know if all the guys on here are biased against other
f-150s. If that were the case....which it seems not to be, then I wouldnt want to post on these boards anymore. I only respect guys who are actually into their trucks not just a bunch rich weeners with to much money and a stick up their a$$. Most all the guys on here with lightnings are really into modding them up and they have a pasion for it. Thats what made me wonder why i read what i read. Figured I would ask. am i wrong here?

Just leave off the badges. Nobody should have a bad thing to say. I think imposters that put on the badges is what irks most L owners. Have fun with your truck and do whatever you want with it....
