L - NYC Owners

I am moving from Phoenix to NYC. I am curious if there L owners in NYC? If so, have you had any problems?

I driven mine in NYC...aside from finding good parking (which will run you $400-$600/mo for a secure deck), just watch for potholes and you should be okay.

potholes, crazy cabbies, tourists. I am from westchester, and when I see people driving ferrari's and such in the city...it always amazes me. I def would not bring a Lightning down there.

I'm all over the place. Depends on what area you move to. Probably the biggest problem is the drooling and staring you get from others. Welcome to NY

I live about 15 mins north of the George Washington bridge which takes you to 179th street in Manhattan. My L will never ever cross that bridge. City streets will punish your ride, parking is a nightmare and the cabbies drive without any concern for public safety. The fun thing is that the West Side Highway and the FDR are alot of fun to drive on because anything goes. Its a mixture of Nascar, Rally and street racing for the public.

Hee hee hee I usually go over the GWB 3 days a week. Sometimes at night I'll take the FDR cause I love the challange of cabbies who think the FDR is part of the Nascar circuit. <<Oh I wasn't tailgating officer, I was drafting.>> But it's ok cause the Krispy Kreme doughnuts in Manhattan are out of this world.

I've even parked on the streets of Manhattan a few times....yeah I was sweating the whole time the L was outta sight.

I live in the city and park here as well, you will have nothing to worry
about! find a good garage and your OK, the streets are not that bad
anymore, and I rarely see a pothole in fact I have never hit one
in two years with my Lightning, Expect alot of compliments!

Hey Boxer, you gotta admit though if its not the potholes, its those mf'ing sewer caps that stick up out of the roads like 6 inches.

Yeah, was definately the raised manholes, not potholes that get ya.

Driving in the city ain't so bad... Guess I'm used to being cutoff, have people make random lane changes infront of you, do 3 lane-changes, or just stop for no reason, I live in NJ. Cabbies are tame compared to NJTP/GSP/Rt3/Rt17-traffic at rush-hour.

OK I'll give you NJ guys that! Especially the soccer moms on Rt4 and 17 during rush hour. I've had more close calls in NJ than NY. Hey Russ remember the last meet/cruise we were on?

No potholes? What NYC are you guys living in I have taken the truck into the city once and never again....Your bumpers will need to be painted every year as well as frequent oil changes from the stop and go traffic. You might want to consider Queens instead

West side highway is awesome....Can really get some speed late at night...just watch out for the destroyed pavement in the right lane Any of you guys drive up Saw Mill River parkway?

Heheh, oh there's potholes, I'll give you that, but I think the 6" raised manholes are worse. lol.

I've got to check out the west side highway at night one of these days...

I hope you dont mean manhattan, Most people, when talking about the CITY, actually are talking about one of the surrounding borough's. You DON'T want to drive an L in the city on a daily basis! jmho
