Non-Ford Extended Warranties

HaHaHaHaHaHa.....................................t his is a good one. You guys are not going to believe this.

Took Go_rila in to the dealer for a little check up today. Seems he has been coughing a little lately. Diagnosis: coil packs 1 & 5 along with a weak signal from the crank position sensor. The initial response from my extended warranty carrier was: No work can be done for 48 hours until they send an inspector over to go over the vehicle. On top of that, they are intending to deny the warranty work on the coil packs because I have 20" tires and wheels. This is great. I needed a good laugh today. More to come.

Later that same day..................................

I will be cancelling my extended warranty with Source One Automotive in Franklin, TN by the end of the day. For all you new Lightning owners, my advice would be to get your extended warranty from an authorized Ford dealership. I will pay the bill at Bankston out of my pocket and hopefully get the truck late today or early tomorrow.

Yee.......Haw!

This ain't cool at all... I'm not even sure if its legal either. To deny warranty work they have to PROVE that any mods you have done is what is causing the problem.

I would be livid.

Sixpipes! this is not uncommen. I have delt with these aftermarket warrenty companys and let me tell you they are totally WORTHLESS. They will do anything to reject a claim. My dealer wont even bother with them. I would try to be there when the inspector looks at your truck. Rip him a new a**hole. He gets comission on what he rejects. they all deny it but its true.

That Blows!
Hope you get most of your money back.
If you are interested in a FORD warranty, let me know. My wife is the finance manager at the local dealership and can maybe still get you one at a reasonable cost.

Here here. Started to go through this with my other vehicle until finding out the dealer from which said vehicle (and warranty) was purchased failed to turn in his documents to the warranty company, therefore no warranty. Vehicle was purchased a YEAR ago. UH OH

Dealer had the gaul to ONLY offer the warranty from "today forward" or 'live with it." A FULL refund of monies misappropriated would have been the CORRECT answer.

<<taking a break from finishing my complaint to the BBB, Attorney General's office, and small claims court right now... take that biotch!!

I HAVE MINE THRU FARMERS

Never had any problems can take it to any repair place of my choice and all I have is a 100.oo dollar dedectible. And all I paid for it was 900.oo and some change for 5 years and 75,000 miles of coverage. also covers vehicle rental reinbersement..

Hope this helps.. Just check with your insurance agent about a maintence policy on your truck.

Still very interested in an extended warranty, but at 50K, I doubt there is anything that can be done. I am required to get a notarized mileage statement on the truck and Fax it to Source One Automotive. Did I mention it was in Franklin, TN? I thought so. I did have an interesting suggestion from an anonymous person. I could sell my truck to a dealership and buy it back for the same price and then buy the extended warranty, but that sounds a little far out there if you ask me. What if they didn't want to sell it back or something?

I'm to blame for this whole think, you know. "Let the buyer beware". But I just wanted folks to understand that just because some warranty company has your Vin# and is soliciting for extended warranty coverage, that in no way is an indication that Ford Motor Company is involved. Very close to fraud in my book.
