Unhappy Fuel Filter problem

Ok I bought a Fuel filter at advanced auto parts. I went to change it and this filter was bigger than the stock one. I was like WTH. So I drove to the Ford dealership and asked for a fuel Filter. He couldn't find it on the computer so he pulled out the Motorcraft catolog. The fuel filter that was listed for a 2000 Ford Lightning SC was the same size as the one I just bought. So needless to say I used the other one. Doesn't fit in the clamp but it stays put. Not really sure if I like it that way.

Any body else have this problem?

Hey QK.

The first fuel filter you picked up is for a regular F150. Your stock one, as you have noticed is smaller in diameter. Either one will work, but the bigger one does not fit in the stock bracket. I have switched to the bigger one to see if they last longer. At the moment, I am changing filters at least every 10k miles. I'm hoping the bigger filter, which has more surface area, will last longer.

I got one from my local auto parts store, I think it was a Wix, and it was identical to the stock filter.
