Smile Do I stand a chance against beating this?

Me and a buddy of mines with a 2001 GT are going to the track in a few weeks. We've been very curious and been talking a lot about who would win between the two of us..He thinks i would beat him by a car length on a quarter mile run but i think he's just being modest. On his GT he has a bassani X=pipe with delta force flowmasters, Timing adjuster pullies, K&N Panel filter, 3.73 gears, Dense charger pipe and thats basically it..On my 99L I just have a JDM street aggressive chip and an air raid enclosed open filter, and the factory motorcraft spark plugs (if that matters)...Right now my L is running like it's never ran before! Very quick for the slight mods that i'm not quite use to yet. I say i may give him a good quarter mile run and he'll take the advantange anywhere after that...What do you guys think???? Just curious

It's gonna be closer than your friend thinks. If your friend has a 5spd and can drive it, it's gonna be close. If it's an auto, you shouldn't have a problem. My money is on the L, you should trap a 13.5-13.4, he should trap a 13.6-13.7 if he can drive

You will win definately. The new stangs run 14 stock with a good driver.I believe you will have the advantage. Good luck.

Hands down you'll win.No nittos needed.I own a 98 cobra with all those mods and my L edges it out by 2 car lengths. I also had the same chip and filter as you have at that time.(BTW a 98 cobra will beat any gt stock for stock.)

It would be close. The stock times on both vehicles are close already. Driver skill would prevail. You have a chance. I say the 'L' comes out on top by a bit. 'Stang boy there would NOT beat you by a car length though. Unless you screwed up your launch big time. There's been several threads regarding lauch techniques. Try a search on the topic. If you'd buy the NITTO's just for the track, why not go with slicks or drag radials? Although the NITTO's would help over the F1's, IMO.
Good choice of username btw.

BE CAREFUL !!

As you blow his doors off one might hit your truck !!
Just kidding, you should notice he may leave on you but the L has tons of tourqe and will pull him in at 1/2 track and walk him from there. Good luck!

Just responding to my buddies post. Yes, I do think that he will beat me by a car length (three tenths). He did leave out two minor mods: 70 MMTB and an 80MM C&L; but that will not make much more of a difference. I do have a 5 speed and shift pretty good but I still think he beats me. I think that I will have to charge my ride if I want to **** in the weeds with you fella. Just to let you know, I have always been an SVT fan and think these trucks are wickedly fast. I had an SVT Contour and even though it was not a dragstrip car, it ran close to 146 MPH with some slight mods. (Off showroom floor, it ran 140-143MPH) Keep rolling; we need some Ford guys to beat more Chevy guys.

Unless the GT is modified greatly... noitice I underscored greatly... the "L" will win... unless of course you are a turkey of a driver

I'm running about what you have and I have yet to lose to a GT... I came up against a Roush and the guy came up to me afterwards and said he didn't think L's were quite that fast...

Oh well...

Just don't brake stand it... or if you do... keep it at about 1,000rpm max... works for me

OK, my bad. I read the original post wrong. Thought it said the the guy in the Stang would beat the 'L' by a car length. But it sounds right the other way around. It is a Monday after all. Dohhhhh.
