I too had the cracked foglights on both sides. I noticed it about 3 months after I picked up the L. The lens had thin black(discoulered) lines in the lenses. Kinda looked like lightning bolt patterns(imagine that). When you rubbed your finger over the cracks however the glass was smooth on the outside. People have said it has something to do with using them in the rain(the heat of the bulb and the shock of the cold water on the lens). This may be true, but defeats the purpose of the lights as you want the extra lights in rainy and foggy conditions. The lens were replaced under waranty, but it pi$$e$ me off that such a well documented design flaw cannot be fixed. I have had many different fog lights on vehicles over the years, and it seems to me in this day of modern tech that something so simple as fog lights can't be easily fixed. You begin to wonder about the engineers brain power if they can't get this problem fixed. There has been ample posts on this board since Gen II came out regarding this problem. If Ford does watch this board why don't they concern themselves with problems of this nature instead of whining about mods?

I have them too

I took it to the dealer last week and they don't seem to want to change them I'm sure if I put some pressure on them they will replace them but i really hate to be an a$$hole. I am one of those people that would rather spend the money out of my pocket then have to get rude with someone to get it for free (even if it is under warrenty).

Don't get me wrong I love my truck but the poor quality of my Truck (missing bolts{ground effects}<fixed by the dealer>, paint flaking{badges}<was replaced by the dealer>, paint missing{rims}<haven't told dealer because i know what thier responce will be>, misaligned parts<DITTO>, small rust spots<DITTO>, exhaust rattling<they cant find where its coming from>, window rubber falling off<fixed by the dealer but now i have RIPPLES across the top of the windshield rubber strip>, fog lights cracking<quote:"we would have to get the manager to approve something like that and he isn't here">..........) is really putting a damper on the ownership. I doubt that i will ever buy another one new. Even at the x-plan price I paid i feel I haven't gotten my "money's worth". For those that don't know ALL of those problems listed above (plus some more) are on a brand new 2002 truck. I keep telling myself, "yeah but its fast", as a way to overlook all the problems........ or that I am "just to picky"?!......

Sorry for the Rant in your thread jeff24, guess its due to being stuck at work on a pretty saturday AGAIN.....

/rant

Oh and my foglights were first cracking @ 1000 miles and the cracks are internal to the lens not due to rocks or anything like that.

Man, lxtac, that kinda stinks! My silver 2002 is a spitting image of yours. In fact, I purchased mine the same week as you. So far the only problems I've had has been a rattling exhaust, which I fixed myself. Sure, there are some slightly corroded fasteners underneath, but that's because I live in a place where they salt the heck out of the roads. It's my fault, but it's my truck.

I hope the dealer sets things right and you and your truck make peace.
