Interchangeability between 5.4 & 4.6/

Does anyone know for sure if the heads and intake manifolds can be swapped between our L and a 4.6L GT?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Same exact heads, as long as both are 99-up.

So, does that mean you could take the intake and supercharger and bolt them onto a Mustang GT? (of course you would also need the computer programmed, etc...)

No, because the 5.4 has a taller deck height, so the heads wind up being wider on the 5.4 than the 4.6. If you took a 99-up GT head and bolted it on a Lightning or vica versa, you'd have the same thing you started with.

Question Can you...

Hey Guys
Would the intake and TB off a GT fit the deck and heads on the N/A 5.4, just curious if there was a power gain or if the intake runners and TB are larger on a GT...(more Hp or not) for my 5.4 F-150.... Thanks guys..

Sal -

With the taller deck height; the intake manifolds would not be interchangeable even on naturally aspirated engines?

Thanks and congrats on the 10's.

Right, with the taller deck the heads get moved outwards. It would be like trying to install a 351W intake on a 302. Same heads, but 351 is wider between them.
