Exclamation vacuum thingy behind battery?

This may sound like a stupid question but i would appreciate a response. In the engine bay, what are those two black plastic things behind the battery with single vacuum lines running to the supercharger for? I am finalizing my battery relocation and will not have a battery there any longer. Are these things used for anything useful, and if i removed them what would be the consequences?

I was told they regulated how fast/slow the dampers in the heating/cooling system worked, act like a resevoir. If you're putting in a powercooler they still fit between it and the firewall. If I remember correctly the hoses can be coupled together. Not sure how as I just slid them between the firewall and my cooler when I had the underhood one.

The heating/cooling system? Right now i have neither a windshield washer resevior or battery but am planning on putting in a powercooler, what would be the best place to put these things? I wonder what would happen if they were removed completely..
Also, what do you mean by "the hoses can be coupled together"?

Thanks

Remember that thing that used to look like a coffee can that was under the hood of older vehicles? This thing took its place. Don't know what either is for, but I thought it was a charcoal canister or something.

Just slip them in between the cooler and the firewall.
