Replacement Windshield Cost

Long time reader, first time user. This site has been a great source of info. Thanks to everyone here.

Now on to my first question. Does anyone know how much a new windshield will set me back? Got a crack that extended all the way across the bottom part of my windshield about a month back.

Your insurance should cover a replacement windshield.

Depends on the coverage. In Georgia, my insurance doesn't cover it until AFTER the deductible is met. It was $275 installed. Damn kids throwing rocks.

If not,go to a glass company and tell them its a cash deal and a $650 windshield can be done as low as $150.I had one done for $150 and the guy still made money.

I bet that $150 was not a Carlite or PPG. There is a huge difference in replacement glass!

Wind shields

If you are gonna buy a window and don't care if the window is a chinese or not. You would never know the difference unless you know what to look for. There are glass shops that sell chinese glass it is the cheapest glass on the market.

If you want a OEM then you will want a carlite it is the only OEM glass for fords.

If you are in one of the lucky states, I know Illinois is not one of them. The Glass shop will pay your deductible instead of knocking th e price down they will take the $50 or $100 off your deductible.

If yo have to pay call all the galss companys and ask the best price and then call them back to see if they will price match. We all do so you'll get a great price

Maybe it's just me.......but I think I'd feel kinda funny in a Ford, lookin through a Chinese windshield at Japanese cars.

From experience, Stick with the OEM stuff if possible. My side window had waves in it and the view was slightly distorted. Even knock off body parts do not fit and finish like OEM.
