15" Rim Question

Has anyone tried using a 15" rim other than the ones sold by the tuners? ie Welds, American Racing, etc.

Will they work?

No 15" rim will work with the stock brake setup. The distance from the center of the axle to the outside of the caliper is 7.5". That equals a 15" circle. The inside dimension on a 15" wheel is much smaller.

I realize that...what I'm wondering is if the 15" wheels that the tuners are selling have more clearance than other 15" rims.

The tuners are claiming that you only need to take off about 1/8" at the most on one part of the caliper only. Is this true for any 15" rim, or just the rims they are selling?

The key is to find a wheel with straight wall on the inside. Very common in road racing wheels to clear large calipers. Not going to be cheap. More than likely you will be looking at a multi piece wheel.

The biggest thing other than the shaving of the calipers is finding a 15in wheel in the 5x135 bolt pattern. I couldnt find any... The tuners have had most of them specially made for our use.
