And all of them came back as F-150 reg cab never saw anything about lightning on Carfax unless I was looking at them wrong. They say the only way to get true verification is to call 1-800-367-3788 or www.svt.ford.com with your vin # ready and they will send you a Birth certicicate and build # for your truck and let you know if it is a real L..
Hope this helps..

Just ran another car fax and it says it is a Lightning. Looks like a new update last year when I ran it it lust said F-150. I looks like I need to check it more.. sorry for the wrong .02 cents worth time for a refund.. Well good luck with your new truck!!
So does that help you "cheat" the insurance company into thinking it isnt such a mean engine--that would be a hellova difference in insurance I would think.

Doesn't matter what the title says, for insurance purposes. Insurance companies know it's a Lightning just by the VIN. They're a lot smarter than we sometimes give them credit for. They've been finding new and creative ways to deny claims for a 100 years!
Don't believe everything you read!
This is a true story, believe it or not. The Lightning that was sold after mine at the same dealership, the owner of which I happened to meet, was registered for insurances purposes and came back as NOT being a Lightning. There was no F07 in his VIN. Turns out that a disgruntled Ford employee had switched VIN tags on four F150's in the plant.
Threw everybody for a loop. Ford wanted to replace the VIN tag, but it required the removal of the windshield, so the owner chose not to do that. Figured he'd let Ford deal with it when he returned the vehicle after the lease was up. He no longer has his L and I don't know what came of it. Most of our L's get transported to the U.S. after their leases.
The Lightning of which I speak was in the SVT Enthusiast magazine where they featured our SVTOA event at Cayuga. (Not that you can see the VIN tag or anything)

Hey guys it checked out. I guess I can say that I am now the official owner of a 2001L. Though I won't be able to drive it for another 2-3 weeks.
Thanks again guys.

On the subject of insurance registration, my 99 is registered merely as a f150 reg. cab. The insurance company has accepted this for the last three years, so... I guess it varies from company to company the thoroughness of the checks of the VIN's?
