My PSP/JDM/KOOKS Headers are on!!

First off I must say, I love the sound of the setup!! It rocks!!!

These tips came from Chickenears (Tim) and seem to be right on the money...

You have to remove the right side plastic wheel well. An air conditioner line at the front right side of the engine has to be taken loose ( one bolt ) and temporarily moved. The anti-lock brake wire that attaches to the top of the right upper control arm has to be unplugged and the header slid into place from the top. I will not install from the bottom, transmission and starter are in the way.

The right side of the engine *DOES* need to be jacked up. Remove the *one* bolt in the motor mount. Not too bad to do but you need to know this and plan for it.

You have to have a muffler shop to stretch/spread the inlet pipes on a Bassani X pipe so the mid pipes will slide into them. They are the exact same size.

The rear of the Bassani X pipe has to have two inches cut off of both pipes.

You need a 4 millimeter socket to remove the original studs that hold the cast iron headers on.

You need to remove all sensors before you do anything, being careful not to twist the wires in two. Unplug the wiring first.

Thanks for the Tips Tim!!

I did leave my cat shields on. I will be cutting alittle off of them to make them not hit some. It wont take much to make them work...

I cant wait to get back to the track now... Maybe I can join a new club with a good pass... The throttle responce is totally different!!

Thumbs up

Richard,

Thanks for the vote of confidence. You'll love the headers for sure.

I DID put my cat shields back on also.

Damn, I didn't jack my motor up and they slide right into place. That X-pipe did have to be spread and the sweet thing was that midas did the X-pipe and mufflers for free for me!! I couldn't believe it!

So how much more do you love the sound?!?!?! I can't wait to hear mine now, all I need is the chip and I'm good to go!

RT,

Maybe there's a difference somewhere in there on a 99/00 and an 01/02?? Maybe?, just a thought.

I recently installed my JLP longtubes and they do sound great. Much better than the Bassani shorties that were on my 99. I haven't had a chance to get a run because the motor is being pulled now. Hopefully I'll hit the track in a few weeks.

You know I would, but my chip is being next day aired to me tommorrow so I'll have it for a test.

Hey do you guys know how to post a sound clip, I can use my brothers digital camera (the canon G2) to take a 30 second clip of it and post it. That would work with that camera right? That way others could hear it, I don't think anyone has posted long tubes with bassani cat back yet and I wish I could have heared it!

If you are able to make a clip, e-mail it to me and I will host it for you.

Richard, are you gonna go to the track in Richmond Sunday? I will probably go...time to try the new torque converter out.

if you have a microphone, use the sound recorder device on your notebook/desktop. That is what I did. Then you can E-mail the clip, or give it to someone to host the clip. If you do that, you can even put it on a music CD, so you can hear you truck in any vehicle or at anytime.

Well I have an 01 and I did mine on a garage floor on jack stands and did NOT have to do the any of the stuff that was mentioned above.

-NO air conditioning line needed to be moved.
-NO anit-lock brake wire needed to be moved.
-The headers WILL fit through the bottom on the driver side......the passenger side does go through the top cuz of the starter.
-NO reason to raise the motor.
-[/b]NO[/b] reason to cut anything off the Bassani X-pipe.

I am really confused why so many people are having to do all this extra work.
