Questions regarding MAF/oil

Well my intake kicked back up enough oil to run threw the rubber boot threw my maf. When this happend i got a shaking and spuddering and eventually died. Does anyone have any technical information that I can bring to ford showing them that the oil in my intake running threw my maf is causing the problems with the truck? thanks again guys

There was another post yesterday(?) about this same problem and the dealer whips out "an article"(?) saying that this is "normal". My thinking is it's common but not normal. An oil breather/filter is available at PSP(and others) that takes the place of the oil filler cap that will relieve some of the excessive crankcase pressure. This 'may' reduce the amout of oil forced up into the intake by the s/c-pressurized crankcase.

Dan or others, did you ever hear

that dealers leave oil 1/2 qt. low when changing oil to eliminate this problem? Also, heard you can't use breather on unmodded truck? thanks for any replies.

Is this true? I plan on changing my oil week after next, and wanted to know if anyone put the full 6 quarts of oil in the truck like the manual says. I didn't want to overfill it.

Hey Gang this is an old subject! Call any automotive catalog that carries K&N and purchase a 5/8" breather filter. Remove the tube going into the intake bellows from the left valve cover. Be sure to use a red plug to cap off the hole in the bellows. Use about 3" of oil proof hose to attach to the valve cover, then insert the breather. I used pinch clamps at both ends to be certain of a good seal. This has been on my truck for about 1.5 years with absolutely no problems!

I had that filter on both cam covers and then the oil was forced out of the filters and ran down onto the exhaust manifolds. It stinks when burned, so I removed them. You don't get any oil from out that filter?

Lightninrod - There have been no problems with that set-up at all!
Do keep in mind that the oil fill cap should never be changed, the pcv kept clean or replaced at regular intervals and the oil level kept just below the full mark - not 1/2 qt low - just below the full mark. The reason for that is to reduce foaming and keep lubrication to all bearings etc. All manufacturers state that in the owners manual and shop CD/manual. Do use 5w or 10w30 synthetic oil with oil change intervals at 7500 miles. This has worked the best for me so far.
