Going back to the track friday with SLICKS!!!

As my very good freind says "its time to dust the sand out of your ****"

I got my UTRA type 51's in today (16x10) and ordered some hoosier's 28x10x16 and I am gonna have a run at the local 1/8 mile friday night to see if i can dip into the 7's with it, I am pretty confident i can do it. The truck ran 8.40 @ 85.41 with a 2lb lower and a PSP street chip at the same track on f1's with 2.1 (im guessing the 60 ft clocks were broken) sixty foots. I was full weight with 3/4 tank of gas.

Current mods are as follows....

1. 4lb lower (psp)
2. 1lb upper (2.80 metco)
3. PSP filter kit
4. JDM flip chip - will run j69
5. factory tech valve body
6. JDM long tubes / cats / bassani cat back

The truck dyno's (407/515) I plan on dropping the hitch and spare tire tommorro night and install the drive shaft loop.

Anybody think I will make it to the 7's???

Any suggestion on getting the thing off the line (burnout and launch)???

What PSI should I run in the slicks??

Last but not least, any other suggestions you guys that have drag raced a bunch care to offer this novice.....

Bob

Thumbs up Goodluck

Goodluck with your new tires. Let me know how they are I am looking to get a set my self maybe. I am running the Nitto D/R now and they are wearing fast. I do big burnouts on them and have netted a 1.82 best 60' I get consistent 1.85's all day long. I see no reason why you should not break deep into the 7's. Goodluck let us know how you do! -Mat-

Make sure you CURE the slicks first before you go to the track .

Take that advice. My new 28x10x16 Hoosiers gave me problems because I came the the track with them green(or New). Put them on go down the road, put some water under your tires and do a good burnout. Take the truck home and let them sit. You will be ready for the track the next day...

7's should be easy for you...

Like ICULOKN said. First time at the track on green slicks sucks.
I was sideways, in and out of the throttle, and up in smoke as
soon as I hit the pedal.
As the day progressed, traction got better.

The drive shaft loop (metco) is on, it was a PITA because of the center console conversion but she is all back together now!!!!

I am gonna pull the hitch and spare tommorro, and pray my slicks show up as promised!!!!!!
