Bassani Holes
Bassani Holes
ok, i am in the market for a catback system and am trying to decide between bassani and silver bullet.......question....is it just me, or did i see a little hole drilled in the bottom of the bassani tips? why are they there?? also, how do the sounds compare......i have been hearing the silver bullet is a little deeper sound, but the bassani is louder? is this accurate? What i want are nice tips, and a RIPPING, MONSTOROUS, MEAN AS CAN BE exhaust.....thats all......
Opinions?

00FireRide,
I have the full Bassani exhaust now and it does sound sweet. I am going to try the full JDM exhaust, long tubes, high flow cats, and the silver bullets. So if you can wait a week or two I promise to give a true opinion.
I have heard that the full JDM exhaust does sound even better, time will tell.

but I have heard both. I have the full Bassani system and lightning jeff has the full Silver Bullet system. He actually got the first ever full exhaust Silver Bullet setup. JDM had done the 6" Magnapacks before but never the 4" Magnapacks. Both systems sound abosutely awesome but I personally like the sound of mine better because it is a tad quieter. But I am sure the 6"ers would sound almost identical to the Bassani. I do like the look of his tips better

I just yanked off my Bassani cat-back and replaced it with the Silver Bullet. Impressions of both...
Quality: It's a push - both pieces are nicer than the underserving place under your truck where they will end up.
Install: A push again - the Silver Bullet uses the factory hangers and the Bassani doesn't. The Bassani doesn't require you to loosen the passenger cat pipe and install a spacer between the two cat pipes like the Silver Bullet does.
Sound: If you want a throaty rumble that won't get obnoxious on long drives than go for the Bassani. If you're looking for the absolute nastiest sound from your L this side of straight pipes than go for the Silver Bullet. The Silver Bullet does 'drone' or resonate from about 1800-2000 rpm on up, so be prepared to hear the wife bitchin' (God knows I got to).
Looks: Since all you can see are the tips I have to give this one to the Silver Bullet. The tips are huge (easily dwarfing the Bassani tips which certainly aren't small to begin with) and fill up the entire exhaust cut-out on the ground effect.
Price: What can I say - the Silver Bullet is an easy $150 cheaper.
Longevity: I never had a problem with my Bassani but others have complained that their customer service is less than stellar (this may have changed in the last 4-6 months though). Jim's always done right by me and I wouldn't hesitate to (and have on numerous occassions) recommend him or his products to fellow L owners. Others may have a different opinion, so take it for what it's worth...
And the envelope please... Shop based on what's important to you; price, sound, looks or service. Hell, toss a coin because you won't be disappointed with either.
