rearview mirror covers--how to remove??

I am thinking of ordering some new rearview mirror covers (replacing black with body color). Do they just pop off with a little convincing, or is there a special way to do it??

Thx

Do a search

I did a search last week and learned that you can move the mirror (glass) from side to side and up and down to get behind the glass to the clips that hold the cover on. Be careful, not alot of room.

Hey Slapshot......
The covers on the mirrors are attached to the mirror housing with little clips(4 or 5) that are on the inside of the mirror. The only way i know to access them are to remove the glass. It may seem tough to remove, but just pull on it with equal pressure. The hardest part is re-installing it... You will need long needle-nose pliers. But first, take a thin flat blade screwdriver and gentlely pry the clips of the mirror housing(be careful, they break easily) The cover should just slide out....
Then just push on the new cover. Next, is the hard part.... This is the only way that I was told that it could be done but talk to a few people and see what else might be done. The glass has a black plastic backing to it. On that sould be a ball pivot in the middle and the two "clips" for the power mirror pivots. These need to be squeezed and inserted into the actuators in the mirror housing. You may want to see what works for you. I first "popped" the mirror onto the housing, then I worked on inserting the clips into the housing. Just have patience and take it slow. Best of luck!
