We get a LOT of LS1 cars at our local track, the clubs meet there all the time. I have NEVER seen a stock C-5 run faster than 13.50. And the best times I've seen for a Z06, is 13 flat for the 385 hp and 12.86 for a 405 hp.

Cool

Dan,

I see them turn 13.2-13.4 around here. The Z06's turn 12.9-13.0 but one guy had his running 12.6.

P.S. I don't know who was stock and who had mods.

There are 2-3 guys with bone stock '02 Z06s running 11.9x/117-118 in New Jersey. I can't remember the track(s), but I can look that up.

Ok, I went back and found it on Z06vette.com. NED (New England Dragway). Not sure where that is located compared to some of you guys. The guys who run there are honest enough to say that their weather stations reported ~700' below sea level. Obviously that will never happen for someone like me, but still...I busted a 12.3 on stock tires, bone stock car on my 5th try. It can't be THAT hard to drive these things.

A stock C5 with an adequate driver in "normal" conditions will run low-13s. A good driver will get it in the high 12s, but these cars don't launch that hard. If you try it, you get wheel hop very bad.

Actually, I should say that a driver _could_ run a bad time in a C5/Z06 if he launched too hard and spun the tires. I had a couple of 12.7x runs my first two passes, but once I launched at idle, the times dropped very quickly.

The guys running 11.9-12.0s with stock cars are doing it on F1 Supercar tires...not drag radials. With ET Streets, many stock Z06s are in the 11.7 range.

Those cars are definately quick in the right hands, and average in every one elses. One hard launch and the tires spin like nuts, to easy and you loose to much time.

Some run quick, some don't. Some hook up, some WON'T. Some have good drivers, MOST don't. FWIW, the Z06's around here run mid to low 12's stock. The Vette's... well the old fart's get tired of climbing in and out of the car so they don't run.

I saw an 02 Z06 pull an 12.2 on a hot day 100% stock. No joke. Sad part is that this car is not even made for drag racing. I would say with the right suspension, a stock z06 could hang with or beat a stock viper. JMHO

Exclamation

Ricekicker,

NEVER believe magazine times. 99% of the time they are inflated.

My wife had a 93 Z28 which was suppose to run 14.0-14.2 according to 2 magazines (the 14.0 was Motor Trend). It ran a 14.6 stock just like everybody's 93-94 LT1 at the track.

A coworker had a 2000 Civic Si that we were putting a Jackson Racing supercharger on. I told him we needed to baseline it but he said there was no need that the magazines said 15.7. It really turned a best 16.4 at the track.

This is just a heads up on magazine times. I use to believe the same thing until I started going to the track regularly years ago.

If you really want to know what the cars are running in your area the track is the best place to find out. Times will vary depending on the track and weather conditions.
