Exhaust counter weights ???

Do those counter weights work ? i think my truck needs them. I have always had a vibration @ about 85 mph. As a rule i don't drive that fast for long periods of time, so i never bothered to take it to the dealer. BUT .... in my drive way the other day in park i was reving the engine. The truck would vibrate @ about 2800 rpm, so i put 2+2 together . When going 85 mph the tack reads about 2800 rpms and vibrates until the rpms go down . Any answers would be welcome.

I had it put on and it did not make any difference for me. They also indexed the driveshaft 180* and that made no difference either. Now they won't do anything else because it's over the legal speed limit. The thing is, they have already shown there to be a problem because the tried 2 things at 2 different times. What to do now????

1st Don't do 85, it's illegal.
2nd Quit reving up the motor in the driveway, your neighbors will appriciate it a lot.
3rd Crawl under the truck and tighten everything up concerned with the exhaust.

A lot of us have experienced strange vibrations and noises with our trucks which can be traced directly to resonances in the exhaust system. Often the fix is as simple as loosening up all the clamps, jiggling things around a little, and then re-tightening everything back down. It worked on my truck. You might want to try it first.

What Snoopy said......... and if that doesn't help, replace your muffler with a Magnaflow #14568 or JDM's c/b.

I crawled under the L this weekend, everything is tight ..... bummer. I did find
that my muffler has a pin size hole at the very back of the muffler. It has black carbon all around it. I don't want to take it to the dealer to replace the muffler
because My BaBolt s/s tips are welded on. Looks like there might be a new cat back system in my future. I still think i have a leak in my passenger side exhaust manifold but the dealer keeps telling me it's the injectors.... oh well

You still might want to loosen a few of the clamps, wiggle things a little, and tighten everything back down. Mine developed sort of a chirping buzz at just above idle on deceleration. At first I thought it was the brakes or driveline. I checked the exhaust and everything felt tight. Then I remembered my experience with Italian motorcycles... I loosened all the clamps past the cats, gave it a couple of angry kicks, then tightened everything back down. No more noises.

Fritz, the pin-sized hole you are talking about is probably a weep-hole to allow any water to drain out. I think that is normal.

Exactly correct !!

I watch mine leak out condensation all the time. It's pretty cold here most of the time. When left idling (with doors locked and spare key in my pocket. Not worried about local people, just maybe a tired hitchiker passing through town) I watch the tips puddle water, and also under the rear of the muffler.

Boy, this board is something, you guy's just saved me from dealer hell !. Now if i can just convince them there is an exhaust leak some where on the passenger side of the engine. I'm pretty sure it's exhaust, because the warmer the engine gets the louder the noise is.
