Hey all, I'm kinda bored tonight and was thinking about taking some Acetone to my emblems. My question is, if I don't like it, how much are the new emblems (atleast 1 Lightning and the rear SVT). And how hard is it to replace (give me steps please). I tried a search, and came up with jibberish. Thanks.

 

My dealer told me around $20. I think it was $18.

 

you can get them at www.fordpartsonline.com a little cheaper than the dealer.. it may cost the same after shipping, so maybe letting the dealer deal with the hassle is good.

as for as getting them off... i took my rear ford emblem off with fishing line. grabbed one end in each hand and "sawed" back and forth till i could pry the emblem off...

i then used goo gone & alcohol to get the stickum off.

maybe using a heat gun (hairdrier) would be helpful?

 

Damn this is taking a long time... took me 30-45 mins to get only half done with the first Lightning badge. Maybe b/c I'm using Acetone Free nail polish remover (only thing I could find). I'm going to hold off until tomorrow (as it's 2:30 am right now), and get some Acetone stuff and some beer, and have a grand ole' time tomorrow. And for all those guys with Black L's that are wondering what this looks like, I'll take pictures (as I have yet to see any on the web).

Go to ebay, i bought 2 lightning badges for $22, most only sell them by the pair. I am sure the SVT is about the same

 

Looks Greaat on my black L. Get real acetone at the hardware store, it works slicker than spit on a brass door ****. Makes it look like an all chrome badge. I think you will like it!!

I'll have to use that one if I ever descirbe this process!
