As some of you MIGHT know, I wasn't planning on buying a L untill I got my current car paid off but my great grandparents(yes, GREAT grandparents, adopted me when I was 1yr old, im 18 now)is paying off their car, Malibu in about 3 months, so we ar gonna put that in on a down payment plus about another $6k cash, I have to get a job first before they will get me one so I can help pay payments, i was wondering if the 01/02 are worth the money over the 99/00 Ls?i know about the HP and TQ increase, any kind of recalls like they had before? Any info is appreciated. Thanks

 

If you plan on leaving your future L stock then get the 01-02 but if you plan on performance mods then buy a 99-00 and put the extra money you save into mods.
Modded there is no advantage either way imho.

 

I would definately pick up a used 01/02 before I bought a 99/00.

You'll be a few tenths ahead of the game if you can pick up an 01/02 for a decent price.

Look around, someone could be selling one with all the mods you might want.

ib...can't wait to see some times. Sounds fast. Struck, make sure you find a stock one, they are out there. Any year is good, some a little better than others.

 

It is fast....well on paper anyway. I t is supposed to get up to around 80 degrees today so i am guessing just a few more weeks when it gets around 95 and 90% humidity i should get my motor back

 

Personally I don't think it matters. My 99 can hang with the 01 and 02 crowd and with some cosmetic mods you can't really tell that easy anyway.

There all pretty anyway, just make sure the one you buy is well taken care of. thats going to be hard to find.
