I just put ATF+3 in my tranny on accident! Help!

Well, i just finished the line valve mod, went to advanced auto, where they apparently cant stock shelves, to pick up some mercon/dextron III. Well I was stupid enough not to check to make sure that all the quarts were just that and ended up adding two quarts of ATF+3! What should i do?

drain the fluid and leve the pan and filter off for the night so the rest drips off. tomorrow mid afternoon put pan back on and fill with the right fluid. you may still have a little of the other stuff in their but i think you should be fine...thats what i would do at least.

just thought about something else....
maybe you can run a few quarts of the right stuff with the pan on to flush out the system then empty and refill again. might cost you a few bucks but it will be worth it IMO

I'm pretty sure you're going to need a tranny flush to get all the unwanted fluid out. Someone will let me know if I' wrong. I'm 99.999999999% sure though. I don't think it will hurt to drive it to get the service done.

It's a pressure purge. All the tranny fluid will not just drain out. It must be forced out because there are areas in the transmission where the fluid pools. That's my general read on it anyway.

I dont know if ATF+3 will harm your tranny , but as soon as you start your truck the pump will mix all the fluid together (converter too). If that fluid is bad, drain it now.

Oh FactoryTech.........where are you?...........

I'd have it pumped out (flushed).
