Cool Oil Breather Cap Info

This might surprise some people but when i was at the dyno yesterday i dynoed 3 different chips with stock breather on then installed a aftermarket oil breather cap after each run with each chip and saw noticeable power loss especially in torque with each chip when the new breather cap was installed but the air-fuel did not lean out like most of us thought it would,it only leaned the chips out by .2 on the air-fuel!I am still going to use my oil breather cap for everyday driving but take it off for the track

Interesting stuff thanks Matt. So you made less HP with the breather even when they leaned the engine out abit.. How did you do on the dyno? Any comparisons between A,B or C chips? You can e-mail me if you prefer...see ya Jeff

is your chip burned for the decrease in pressure that you get when you put on the breather? If not that could be the reason why your are getting the power loss.

Matt,as always...it is nice of you to share your dyno info but how much of a power loss are we talking?
Do you beleive that the tradeoff of power is worth clogging up your[our] intake,ic and supercharger?

There was at least an 1/8th inch of oil in the bottom of my main intake and in order to get there it had to go through the plenium and supercharger. My rotars are peeling so bad that i am considering replacing them and they were covered in oil.

I have to think that the majority of the oil ingested into the motor happens at the strip under wot.

Shoot me an e mail with your numbers if you would.

He rolled his eyes because he is not dumb enough to forget to tell his programmer to compensate for the breather

I dyno'd my truck today--two pulls without oil breather cap and one pull with oil breather cap on. My chip is burned for the breather cap and I LOST 18 hp with the breather cap on the truck.

without cap
hp 396.4
tq 452

hp 392.7
tq 456.0

with oil breather
hp 378.8
tq 452.0
