Angry One Less L owner

Well about 1 1/2 months ago I ordered my 2002 L from the local Ford place.(Warner Robins Ford Lincoln Mercury) Well they told me 4-5 weeks..5 max for delivery. I was assured the 2 times I stopped by to check on things that the schedule was all good. Well Monday I swing by and the guy proceeds to tell me that the truck hasn't even shipped (it's been a bit over 6 weeks now) but he assures me it'll ship Thursday and to stop by. So I go Thursday...SURPRISE..he isn't working today. So I go Friday and he isn't there again, so I get ahold of somebody who deals with the orders. She proceeds to tell me that my L will not be here for AT LEAST another two weeks. Well I told her right there..Forget it..keep the damn truck..sell it off your lot. Then I got ahold of two Ford/SVT dealers in Atlanta....BOTH said..we don't do X-plan on L's. Now I am pissed...one dealer had 4 L's ont he lot the other had 3..but they refused to give me the X-plan. So last night I bought a brand new Jeep Wrangler. Ford has lost 1)the sale of the 02 L 2) Any hope of me buying a Ford product 3) Any chance of me suggesting a Ford product! I am really about this as I really wanted a L, BUT before anybody says shoulda waited....it seems the 4 turned to 6 then turned to 8 and it looked to keep going. Oh well..I am done ranting:o

that really sucks man. but, i wouldnt blame ford...its the dealers fault. they probly knew it was going to take that long but wanted to make a sale so they lied. also, its not up to ford to decide who will honor x plan or not. anyways, what i want to know is how you went from a lighting to a wrangler. were you just looking for a play around vehicle? anyways, wranglers are a blast to drive. its so cool to just be cruising on the freeway with practically nothing around you except a windshield and a few bars. its great. too bad you didnt get a lightning but you will definetly have fun with your wrangle, especially if you take it offroad.

I agree that does suck, but for a different reason. You just wasted 20 something grand for a Jeep Wrangler. If you settled for that you are not a true Lightning owner anyway.

Wasted huh? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Please do share what a "true lightning owner" is.

J15BIG-Glad somebody understands..yeah I can't blame Ford really. Yeah..the reason I got wrangler is I like having the top off. I didnt really want a convertable car. I sold my 10th Firehawk to order my L, so the V-6 will take some gettin used to. Not really a play vehicle...it's my rainy day driver..I have a 2002 R6 for playing LOL Hopefully since I got a Jeep and the payments are so much more less than a L I can throw a new 929RR in the garage too. And yeah..the jeep will be goin off-road here and there

Ok inline 6..bah blah
No four-wheel-drive system would be complete without the power to back it up. That's why Jeep Wrangler is equipped with the 4.0L Power Tech I-6 engine (standard on X, Sport, Sahara). With 190 horsepower and 235 pound-feet of torque, it offers quick acceleration on the straight-and-narrow and plenty of low-end torque on the inclines. Combine that with the I-6's ability to haul up to 2,000 pounds, when properly equipped, and you're ready for just about any adventure

Dunno who I "showed" ....I just got tired of waiting and the date of delivery moving farther and farher as soon as it got near.

CantDrv55,
Sorry to hear your dealer wasn't straight forward with you. It is not Ford's fault. The dealers are the responsible party. Not to be a smart A$$. If you had test drove a Lightning you still would have waited the extra 2-weeks! No one would have gone to a
V6 after driving the Lightning unless you weren't really set on getting the Lighning to begin with. Best of Luck!

I did test drive one..and I was hooked...but just got tired with so much BS from those a-holes. I wish ford would regulate their dealers a bit better....some of these clowns should be selling ghetto beaters in tha hood..not new cars. Maybe an '03 L next year..we'll see.

CantDrv55,
Just another two weeks and you would have been set! That is just a drop in the bucket! You could have called SVT and they could have helped you out. I waited 5 months after i put my order in to get mine. It was worth it! Your not going to get the satisfaction of seeing those Vette & F-Body owners look after a truck just kicked their A$$. Priceless. Two weeks and you would have been walking on water!

Odin,
That killed me man!. Can't stop laughing. You'd better look up, I think Lightning is going to strike! lol

Wouldn't you have actually had to own it to be "one less L owner"? Seems to me Ford owned it all along. Which means somebody out there is going to be "one new L owner" pretty soon. Enjoy the Jeep.
