Did you know we have fiberglass rear quarter panels???

The bad news is that someone hit the left rear corner of my truck a few weeks back...the damage isn't too bad, but as we all know- any damage is bad. Anyway, the hit cracked my quarter panel in two spots below the left rear taillight, and now you can see actual fibers starting to jut out from there.

I got an estimate to get it fixed, and hopefully everything will be back to normal in a few weeks, I just thought you guys might like to know (since I didn't).

Later...

To my understanding, 1999/2000 has metal box with fiberglass body panels, and the 2001/2002 has a plastic box of somesort with fiberglass body panels.

The 2001's have metal boxes too? I thought that was when Ford switch to those other ones...like the blackwood, etc.

Cool

HI!... nvr l8 : Our hoods are aluminum NOT composite. I know this as a fact because I just cut a hole in mine for a hood scoop. All "97" - "2002" F-150's, EXPEDITION's, and SUPERCREW's have aluminum hoods.

Your insurance should replace the whole left side panel. Don't let them do any less than replacement.

I had a similiar thing of somebody backing into my rear and shattered my left side in front and above the taillight. The person's insurance paid for everything.

I was lucky cause this guy was honest. He looked for me and found me in the Sub shop. He could have just left. After I threw a fit I thanked him for being honest.

Yes both back panels and front fenders are fiber glass.

HI!... The front fenders on our trucks are steel NOT fiberglass. The bed's 1/4 panels (outer bed sides) are fiberglass/composite and the hoods are aluminum. All other body panels are steel . Backs of side mirrors are plastic.
