Blue Backed Guages?????
Does anyone know if it is possible to put a blue light behind these gauges instead of the green? I just installed a Clarion deck and it has a blue display. It would be cool to have something like the new cobra has.
P.S. If any of you houstonians are heading out to the O'Reilly Spring Nationals I will see you there.

I think that the L gauges are made by Nr automotive. They are not lite up by a bulb, but "indiglo" gauges. I recentally installed some of thier gauges on my 2k tundra and there is a switch that changes it from green to blue. So, I would email them and see- I think it is possible but i don't know how to accomplish it.

How to turn your gauges blue!
I know it is possible to accomplish. All the indiglo gauge kits that are sold have the same wiring connections and "power supplies". There is a small plug for each gauge. I wonder if ford eliminated these connectors or just plugged them into the factory harness.
To answer everyones question- It is entirely possible in my opinion.
To have it intergrated with the factory dimming system will be quite difficult, but you can do it with the extra external controller that comes with the power suplies.
I don't feel like talking apart my lightning dash because I do not want to perform the mod, but i know how to do it.
When you buy an indiglo kit, you get the white gauges with wires that plug into an controller. All you have to do is run power from the parking light power wire to the controller. There are two kinds of controllers -- an analogue and digital. The analogue is what comes with the NRautomotive kits and every other kit-- i has a turn **** for brightness and a switch for blue to green. Then there is a digital gauge that has 6 hues. (like in this kit http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1820262174)
The digital controller is kinda cheesy --that is why they don't have a picture of it on thier auction- it has 4 button to change the hue and brightness.
Now comes the hard or easy part -- if ford left the pair of wires from each gauge, all you would have to do is cut them and hook up the controller to them. If it is integrated into the instrument cluster, you will have to find out which wires are what and slice into them from the cluster of wires running into the gauge.
So someone has to take apart the cluster and see what is going on.
I bought the digital controller off someone on ebay and never used it, so if anyone wants to buy it and be the first to have blue gauges-- let me know. I bought the controller for $15. I will even give you the intructions that came with my nr kit.
I bet that that is more than enough info to get the project going....
