Question Alignment help

I noticed the inside of the right front tire worn almost to the steel. I am going to find a local alignment shop to do the work. Is there any tips I need to know? The left front seems to be wearing properly. Is there something other than being out of alignment which might have caused the uneven wear? Thanks for the help

One thing that you really need to be on top of with a Lightning is front end alignment.

You need the SVT specs, regular F-150 does not apply and most alignment shops won't know how to set it up. You need a set of Herb's washers and two cambolt kits for the alignment if you don't already have them. Has it ever been aligned before?

Here's the specs I used today.

SVT Spec:

L.H. Caster: 6.9 +/- 1.0 Deg.
R.H. Caster: 7.4 +/- 1.0 Deg.
L.H. Camber: -0.5 +/- 0.7 Deg.
R.H. Camber: -0.5 +/- 0,7 Deg.
L.H. Toe: -0.05 +/- 0.15
R.H. Toe: -0.05 +/- 0.15

Here's the cambolt kit. You need "two" of them, get at NAPA

Search NLOC for Herb's washers. Good luck!

I don't know if it has been aligned before or not as I bought it in February. Will the local alignment shop know what to do with the Herb's washers or will I need to tell them? Thanks for the help.

You'll have to tell them. The lower driver's side control arm, where the bolts go through to attach it to the frame, has oblong slotted holes and only god knows why! The right side is normal, round bolt, round hole.

Have you noticed a loud clunk sound when backing up and turning the wheels sharply? These washers will fix the clunk and help keep the alignment straight.

Herb custom makes these washers and sells them for $50 per pair. They are worth every penny. Everybody here recommends them.

Look under your truck's left front, at the wheel, and see if you can see where the bolt in the lower control arm has been sliding back and forth in it's slot. Usually it's very noticable.

Go here to read about Herb's washers.
