I'm having problems installing shackles

I can't get the truck jacked up high enough. I have a big jack with two 2x4s on top of it, and it still won't lift the wheels off the ground. I'm jacking at the tow hitch. There's just too much travel in the suspension. Has anyone else had this problem?

Use a floor jack under the pumpkin, and jack way up. Install jack stands under the frame rails, and lower onto jack stands. You will need to keep the floor jack under the pumpkin to support it, when you disconnect the spring. Do only one side at a time. I think you have to disconnect the lower shock bolt as well.

Yep...that's how I did it. Took about 20 minutes from start to finish. Just follow these tips and you'll be done in no time.

I had to put a block of wood on my jack. I put it under the lowest part of the hitch. My jack stands under the frame rails wouldn't let the tires go all the way down. I found out that to get out the top bolt you have let the truck down aways (after unbolting) so the stock shackles go up high enough and take the bolt out over the top of the frame just under the bed. Be safe and take your time your jack slips you've messed up your bed...

I did mine different and it works good to.

Jack up your truck from the fram on the sides of the truck just enough so the tire is barely off the ground on that side.

then put a jack stand somewhere on the frame and let the truck down so the tire just barely touches the ground. Like this you can unbolt the top and bottom and move it around pretty easy.

You can do both sides at once too if you like. but the key is to may sure the tires are just barely on the ground when your lifting it from the frame, not the axle.

good luck
