An update on my L (for anyone wanting to know)

My L has been down for a few weeks now (way too long). For those that don't know, my L broke 2 rods, #2 and #4 while at the track. When they broke they put some windows in the block and took out the oil pan.

All the parts have been ordered or recieved. I have gone with CP pistons, Manley H beam rods, Mod Max stainless valves (Thanks JL for all the help) and a set of graphite head gaskets.

I have done some porting on the intake and exhaust with most of my time on the exhaust side. Just dropped the crank, pistons, valves and heads to the machine shop for ballancing and to put the new valves in and do a 3 angle valve job.

Should have the L completed in just a few weeks.

Thumbs up

Hey,

I know it sucked when the motor blew, but your putting together a new strong motor that will at least give you piece of mind.

When and IF my motor blows, I'll upgrade it then. Thinking about getting started on building a motor this fall or sooner if need be, hopefully when I'm ready..LOL

Hope your back up and running soon...

Good job on the motor. It must be nice to be able to do a lot of the work yourself. Time for low 11's/high 10's now.

how much would it cost to do all that w/o busting my block? Just beefing up the rear end. Does most of the cost go towards labor? Just curious bc if i ever busted my engine I need to know how much cash to keep avalible. Good to hear that it's going to be all beefy... you'll probley get zelous and make your truck get down into the 11's with all that backing

From what I am seeing I can get a standard bore block new cheaper than some want to machine my current one... I will be doing a complete 2nd motor to keep downtime to a minimum...

ICULOKN is right, it is about the same price (if not less) to just buy a new block. For people that want to know more info, you can contact me @ Tommylightning@yahoo.com
