Talking First Ride!

This is my first post and for good reason. I been watching this site and all the posts on it and finally decided what truck i am getting. I got to test drive my dream truck today. It was a white 2001 Lightning and the power that it had blew me away. I was out with the sales guy and he told me to get on it from a stop sign and go up the hill. When I hit the gas and turned up hill I was long gone from the stop sign faster that i thought a truck could go. So I know now what truck i am going to buy. I just wanted to ask what is a good price for a 2001 with around 4K miles on it they want $28,500. I was only planning on spending around $24 so hopfully i cant talk them down. Also i was wondering if the lightnings are good for daily drivering, because i was thinking of trading in my Ranger and having this truck as my main vehicle. Any comments or replys are welcome thank you.

Alot of guys on here use the Lightning as their daily driver. Its a great truck. I got my 2001 for around $28K on X-Plan brand new. I would try to get them down some. Maybe $25-26K or so. There is a White 01 with 5K for sale on a Ford lot here for $28k as a asking price. Try to talk them down some if you can man....

mine is kind of a daily driver. I take my mom's car when ever I can, but that is just to keep the truck clean. The gas mileage is bad, but well worth it. It is cheaper insurance for me than a sports car. All around a great truck! And also, people will NEVER stop staring.

Mine is a daily driver as well. I choose not to drive it in snow or ice, not because I don't trust the L, I don't trust other drivers in that stuff. Only other consideration for a daily driver would be how much your gas bill will be. Remember these puppies use premium gas and a lot of it. Course, with that comes a lot of smiles as you have found out....

As others have said, you should be able to get a "like-new" 01 for under $28,000--keep looking.

Mine is driven daily(25,200 miles--since May of 01) and get's 14+ mpg. It's as docile as a sun-warmed rattlesnake around town but it will 'strike' with just a nudge . of the pedal.

The only changes I make to 1/4 mile it are to change the rear tires and remove the tail gate. All my mods are on all the time--with no problems. It has yet to see a tech(kock on wood!).

You can buy a BRAND new virgin 2002 on the X-plan for about $28,500. I'd offer them about $26k maybe.
Mine is a daily driver and it's great. Just don't buy it with the desire to get 30 MPG!!!! LOL
