Extended Life (Orange) Coolant
Just completed my electric fan install and figured, after draining out what appeared to be about 2/3's of the original coolant, that I would replace it with extended life coolant. However, after browsing through my Owner's Manual and SVT Supplement to see how much coolant and water I would need it states "DO NOT USE EXTENDED LIFE (ORANGE IN COLOR) COOLANT." My question is has anyone flushed their cooling system and added extended life coolant and why would Ford specifically state not to use the extended life coolant? I do realize that if you mix the green and orange coolant that not only does it make a really ugly color but creates a nice sludge in the cooling system that is almost impossible to flush out.
Thanks in advance,
Dan

Between the orange and the green coolant?? Does one cool better or does one just last longer??
I have no idea why you couldn't use the orange if you flushed out the entire system..

The orange stuff turns to sludge by itself. It is junk and should never be used. All new GM vehicles come with it and my 02 Silverado has been flushed and converted to green and the 02 Grand Prix I bought the wife 3 hours ago will be flushed and changed as soon as I get the chance. I wouldn't use the stuff in anything 'cept maybe to keep an outhouse from freezing or something. Just my .02
