Rusty's in the FINALS against

Beefcake!

I just got back from SDR. I left after the semi-finals. In the s/f it was Beefcake's red L vs. a white 17.00 sec.F150. BC won. Then it was Aaron's(of Metco mods) white L vs. Rusty's red L. Rusty won.

I had to leave then--1 1/2 hours until the finals. As I was leavin', Rusty's runnin' towards his L with a new bag of ice in his hand.

JL was eliminated by Aaron. Rusty had a 'by' because he had already eliminated a 9 sec. Ranger that was fastest up until then. BC beat out a quick Ranger too.

I'll let the guys post their times as I'm not sure what to post--dial-in or times???

Glidden ran once(?) and Doug Mangren(?) broke at the line.

Had a buddy in HS who bought himself a brand new '85 chevette just to tick people off at the local track. He used to win every week. Bracket racing.

toast:

I'm still learnin' about bracket racin' too so take this with a grain of salt(in otherwords, I might be 'bassackwards'???).

If you qualify(you run three passes--they take your best et and then subtract .1/sec from that number--that's your 'dial-in'.) at 17.1xx then you run against a 17 sec dial-in. Then in eliminations, let's say you run against a L with a 12 sec dial-in. When the two of you stage, the truck with the 17 sec dial-in gets to launch/leave 5 secs.(the difference between the two) before the 12 sec truck. The winner is the first truck to cross the 1/4--without breaking-out(going under his dial-in. Theoretically, they should(if they run their dial-ins) get to the finish line dead-even.

If I'm wrong--I'll hear about it .

Btw, Sal broke-out in the first or second elimination run.

I briefly read through this, it's a cool little "How To" on drag racing/Bracket Racing.

Maybe Rusty will reply later but lets just say it was a close race. I believe Rusty's dial in was a 12.74 and Beefcake was dialed in at a 12.82. Rusty was catching him but got beat off the tree by ".030" and both missed their dial in's by ".07"sec. It was the closest race that i heard of in the finals. So the race was determined by 30 thousanths of a second. I don't think Rusty did too bad with this being the first big race he had ever been in and the first time ever running on a Pro Tree.

Rusty....my hats off to ya.

Rusty:

Congratulations on an outstanding showing. You were really pumped for the 'final'.

You are the man--of the South!

Btw guys, Rusty eliminated the #1 truck(a Ranger) qualifier on his first elimination run .

And, thanks Justin for the update/info. I look forward to seeing you, David, and Rusty on another Fri. night at SDR.

hey guys im gonna make this real quick b/c im dead tired and i need some sleep to get caught up from this weekend. i had an absolute blast this weekend meeting alot of new friends and some great people! i wish everyone of us could win but we cant now can we. ERIN if u read this man u are a great competitor and i wish u the absolute best next stop in columbus! all day i cut anywhere from a 5.37-a 5.66 light on the new pro tree. so i get to the finals and i guess pressure from everything and sheer lack of experience lost me the race i cut a .604 light to cake's 5.6x or .57x cant remember which. anyway i hated to lose after going that far. ill have to better this next year!!!! hahaha!!!!
