Question Toluene

Went out and got the Toluene stuff today and just want to get opinions on it...I was told to mix it 1:3 with 93octane to make 4 gallons of 100octane...has everone had good luck with the stuff...with my BIG mouth out there talking trash on a money race I want to be able to run my RACE program ( requires 98 octane minimum )...Want to hear from everyone with experience!!!

Toluene is 114 octane so if you mix it 1 to 3 than you would have 98.25 octane total. I don't run straight toluene but I do run run AVGAS and it is blended with Toluene and other stuff. I really like running it and can tell a major difference with my Hot Chip. I have made runs without the AVGAS and lost up to 2.5 tenths in an 1/8th mile run. I know its got lead in it but it is not enough to hurt anything. If you want a 100 your going to have to mix it 1 to 2.

is the resident, Southern expert on toluene and zylene but he's shootin' at feathers out in the woods somewhere(at least that's what he said when he couldn't make it to SDR this weekend).

I think you have the right mixture but add about 3 oz. of Marvel Mystery Oil to the mix to protect the cyl. walls. Toluene is a very aggressive solvent.
