Picked one up and the removal tool. Any helpful hints on swapping it out?

Bought at Oreilly's.............

WIX #33595 filter and 3/8" fuel line disconnecting tool. That's what I was sold so until I complete the job I have to assume those are the correct items.

I just installed the gas tank and am changing the fuel filter right now. It is simple. I got the tool from auto zone. The filter ford part is fg-986b. take out the 13mm nut that holds the filter on and change it.
BTW, with only 15K miles it was very difficult to blow through compared to the new one. I would say 2-3 times harder.

I did find a couple of tips whenI changed mine last weekend. Try leaving it bolted to the frame until you get the lines disconnected. If you have room, it may be easier when trying to remove the lines, that was a 2 handed job. Secondly, the lines have a little play in them at the connection points on the filter. Push the line all the way IN to take up the slack. I found the tool fit better and the line disconnected much easier than when it was pulled OUT and touching the inner clip in the line ends.
Once you do it one time, it is easy.

Talking Ltnforce why change every 6-8

I heard changing at 15K is recommended eventhough that is not what manual says? Surely, if you use good gas amoco 93 premium it wouldn't need to be changed that frequently? If there is a good reason, I will do it,but have to pay the dealer since you could use your feet better than I could my hands!
