times right?

Last night i took the L(2001 Stock) to the track for the first time ever and i wasn't allowed to race because i'm 17(18 in 4 days), so i let my friend give it a try(it was his first time ever to a track, and first time driving the L) so i wasn't expecting much from him, just to see what times he would be able to pull...

1st Run
R/T 1.227
60' 2.208
1/8 9.130@78.89
1/4 14.123@98.03

2nd Run
R/T 1.529
60' 2.300
1/8 9.172@79.26
1/4 14.136@99.04

What i want to know is looking at these times are they right looking at that he's never driven an L or been to a track? Also if he would of gotten a better R/T and 60' time what would my L run or what should it of been running?I'm hoping mid-13's?I'm going again Weds. but just want to get an opinion before i go.
Thanks

A better 60' would put you in the upper 13's no problem. I've read of stock 2001 L's going anywhere from 13.3 to 14.2 or so.

R/T has nothing to do with your ET. R/T just states how long the light was green before he moved. Basically he was sleeping and somebody honked thier horn then he hit the gas.

Weedo, thanks for the info, even though their was a Stock 2002 True Blue L that ran a 13.5 Stock, so thats what i'm aiming for, hopefully i'll be able to get that

Rfat16, i thought r/t times affected your 1/4,guess not.Hopefully i'll be able to get better 60' times.

J15big, yeah you have to be 18,because your signing a contract...saying that you are responsible for your actions.

Anymore info appreciated

60' affects your times at the end.. timing doesnt start till you take off.. Your truck will run better than that.. when you do drive it , bring your tire pressure down to about 22 .. take off at about 1,100 rpms and gently floor it.. take your time and get use to it ... Many other things affect your times .. out side temp humidity etc..
also cool your truck down and you will run better... Good luck dude...

True Blue 2002
2.1 stocker
13.4
102.00

Blown 93
1.83
13.2
103.00

What # 93 said.....................plus, take off the tail gate, hitch, and spare tire--with 3/8s of a tank of 93 oct. It would help if we knew where you race too.

from sears point raceway webpage:
"Requirements:
Drivers must hold a valid California Drivers License. Permits are not acceptable.
The vehicle must meet standard safety requirements, some classes may require helmet.
Drag Race passenger must be at least 16 years of age."

my frined had his dad sign something and they let him drag. hes 17 now but was 16 at the time.

J15, Yeah you can race if you have a Parent or Guardian signature, but i was refering to just you going to a track and being 17 without a parent(like happened to me) they won't let you race

LIGHTNINROD,Blown93-Thanks for the tips, one more question though, i've heard of pressing the brake and giving a little gas untl 1,500 rpm's and then just launching it,but wouldn't that roast tires?

By the way the track was Moroso, in West Palm Beach,FL.

Hey, was it really packed on Friday because of the ricer event this weekend? I wanted to test my new chip out, but I figured it'd be really packed.

Well there you go.

Moroso WPB= Heat+Humidity+Crap Traction=Low 14's

Word of advice........30-32psi on stock tires works better on these trucks at Moroso......as long as you leave the line at 1,000-1200rpm. AND you've not driven through the water......do a little burnout just to clean off the tires. I get 1.8's 60' ft all the time with 30psi.

Practice, practice, practice that also helps et's!

I believe most tracks require a valid drivers license. I let a 17 yr. old Girl who just got her Drivers License Drive my Lightning. Her 2nd run had the same et as a friend who there with his modded Z06. I think her 60ft was in the 1.7s, but I directed her in the Water Box so she didn't get to the starting line with the Wheelwells full.

My .02...If you are at a slippery track launch from an Idle to start with, you can always bring up the RPM as you get a feel for the traction, and forget about R/T until you get used to Launching the Truck. And...forget about e.t.s untill you have a few runs, Be alert as to how they direct you into water and be aware of how much water is on your tires. Don't hesitate to let up on it during a run.
There is always another time to race. Always Drive the Truck First, 60ft. times, R/Ts, and e.t.s have a low priority at this time in your life.

Here at the local drag strip in Jacksonville, they dont check drivers liscense or anything, i know a few people who are 16 that race out here, its only the 1/8 mile, does that make a difference?

Reality1-Thanks or the advice, i really appreciate it,i will try and just get used to the truck for the first times.

MiamiWhiteSVT-L,poweredbySVT- Do any of you have plans on going on Weds. to Moroso? because i'm going, and would be willing to let y'all test out my L and see what it's capable of so i know what i should be running and how far off-pace i am,then again i might run a good time
I have the feel of the truck, well just have to wait to Weds.

By the way MiamiWhiteSVT-L, it wasn't packed on Friday,i got their at 9:30 and left at about 11 and was able to get 2 runs so not bad.
