Don't sweet the ping. New gas will fix that, Just pick the color you like. You will love the truck.

Octane leaves gas with time(a couple of points a week if unsealed). It is a huge problem with boats on the first start in the spring.

My 2002 did it as well. Picked it up with about 30 miles, 1/8 tank of fuel. it pinged a bit under "normal" freeway acceleration. I was concerned, so I made the dealer agree that if it didn't go away, they'd fix the issue. Either way, as soon as I put a full tank of premium in it, it IMMEDIATELY stopped. like less than a minute.

I figure they must have put the 1/8 tank of gas in when it first came off the assembly line, before SVT got their hands on it. At that point, of course, the supercharger was added, and the new fuel requirement was not thought of.

Thank you for our responses. You guys have put my mind at ease for now

I am literally, the worlds most paranoid car owner. I get worried over little things. The 2002 Blue one did a bit of pinging, especially during throttle tip-in, but the other 2 I drove did the same thing, except they didn't do it as bad, so it had to be something since it was causing all of them to do it.
