When does production stop on Lightnings ?
I want to know when I should call for my build # or should I just wait for the cerificate in the mail.

Also I got some svt magazine today how long do you get that for free is it worth it to suscribe?

I am a new owner too, and I didn't get teh magazine yet ..
it's been a month and a half ... maybe they will get my
VIN updated .. the service guy couldn't find it in the system
today, so who the heck knows????

As for this board ... There does seem to be a bunch
of really knowledgeable Lightning owners, tuners and
such, but they are also on boards that have:

A. Better Avatars
B. A search that works
C. Chat and Private Messageing

So I may have to move to one of them ...

Maybe Dave is just too damn busy with his truck to
get this stuff fixed ... it's ONLY software ... If it doesn't
work FIX IT !!!!

Hey Slick,

I bought my L on Dec. 29 and I now just got my first SVT mag. a couple days ago. Does your L have a date and a number on a rail in the front right section of your engine compartment in yellow. I'm thinking that it is the production date and number.

Same thing here. I bought mine on Jan 30, 2002. Hell, I didn't even get a warranty book.

 

Thanks guys I don't know about the frame rail but I got a engine sticker build date on valve cover. I'll have to look on the frame rail
when I get home from work night shift sucks...I to only just got mine I ordered it Dec 28 picked it up Feb 4

They made Lightnings last year right up to the day that 02 F150's started rolling down the line. Think it was about August 20th. Was there that day on a plant tour.

 

For the last four years the Norfolk plant has stopped production of one F150 model year and started the new model in July. They usually shut down for a week in that month for any necessary retooling. Other plants (Ontario) would be close to that so, Aug sounds right.

None of you were in my clique but, I took a chance and replied anyway.

(I'm going to be pissed if I can't get back in)

 

Don't go by the sticker on your door for build information. Your actual build number and production date will not be available until the end of the year's model production. At this point SVT doesn't know exactly how many will be built, so they can't give you a 123 of xxxx number at this point. You should be able to get your number and certificate sometime around October- November. They're supposed to automatically send the certificate, but that's not always the case. I had to call them for the certificate for my '01.

 

Hey Raoul: Nice to see another cliquer still around.

Since the search isn't working, I cannot pull up my post when I got my certificate, but I'm thinking it was Nov. 1999. It is framed and on my office wall but does not have a date on it.

As to the magazine, I always thought it was supposed to be quarterly, but it seems to be a bit more erratic than that. I have not recieved one in quite a while. I believe they are free to SVT registered buyers.

1999MY production of 4,000 units started ~March 16th & stopped ~August 24th

2000MY production of 4,966 units started ~February 1st & stopped ~August 15th

2001MY production of 6,381 units started ~January 10th & stopped ~August 22nd

2002MY started production in the Fall of 2001, so who knows when they'll be done or how many they'll make.
