Just installed fan on intercooler radiator.

With the all the problems I had with my intercooler pump and whatnot I really started to look at the the trucks intercooler system and how it could be modified to work with greater efficency. After some measuring I decided to install a SPAL 7.5" electric fan in the center of the intercooler radiator and wired it to run when the intercooler pump is running.

Unofficial results.

Coolant temp measured in tank after truck was allowed to sit and cool down for a while, 104*. I let the pump run by itself and noted it took several minutes for the coolant to drop 1*. I figured this was due to the lack of air moving across the surface of the intercooler radiator.

Installed fan, coolant temp now 94*, fan and pump running, temp dropped 10* to 84* in under 3 minutes. Ambiant air was 79* so I really don't know how much more the temp could have dropped but will study this further. I figure the hotter the intial temp the better the results will be.

This install was done mostly just to be able to cool down the heat soaked motor between rounds at the track and should work to some extent. I figure the next step would be a powercooler of some sort, just thought I would pass on some information.

I know of some dudes who also run the SPAL intercooler fans. Maybe they will chime in with their thoughts
