Wink Update on new vehicle

Well for about a month now I have been looking for a new vehicle to replace my Pathfinder with. The Pathfinder is too small to tow my Lightning with so I was in need for an upgrade.
I know this is mostly a Ford bias site so I expect to get some flames. I am not pro Ford or pro GM or pro anything, I pretty much think that there is a vehicle that I would like to own built by everyone, everything they build? No, but just about every auto maker has something that I would like to have. I love anything with a motor so if I was rich I would have a collection something like Jay Leno.
Anyway this vehicle is now my daily driver and I will use it to tow my lightning to any of the far away event so that my wife and (baby any day) can go with me.
I tried out a few vehicles:
2002 F-250-350 Superduties with the Powerstroke diesel Lariat trim pacage.

2002 Excursion limited with the PSD

2002 GMC 2500HD with the Duramax Diesel

2002 GMC Yukon LT

another 2002 F-250 Superduty PSD Lariat

And yesterday a 2002 Tahoe Z71.

The winner for my needs was the Tahoe Z71, It drove about the best and I liked how it looked the best. Plus my wife also liked it the most.
So here are a few pictures of it, just thought I would share them with you, now it's time to find some 22's -24's for it.

What's the tow rating? Diesels stink, are noisey, and you just can't pull into any old gas station and fill her up, but they pull like crazy. You'll have to go back to stock rims/tires for towing if it will pull your truck, hope you don't go through and mountains. Nice truck by the way.

Just as long as you didnt buy the lightning to pull the GM hehe. Congrats on being a father anyday. Im sure that you must be waiting and not able to sleep even more then when you were waiting for the lightning to come.

Thanks for the nice comments, it has the Vortec 5.3 in it, 285h.p. and 325 for torque and the tow rating is 7400.

Do you really think that it wouldn't tow good on some 22's to 24's? If the overall diameter was about the same wouldn't that be ok?
I am very anxious to be a dad, I can't wait. thanks for asking.
The Lightning will be in an enclosed trailer so I won't have to listen to the (pulling a ford with a chevy) remark too often. And when the Lightning gets backed out of the trailer they will know it is pretty serious so if they talk, after a run or two they will stop

That really isn't necesarrily true about modern diesels. You will be seeing an awful lot fo diesel's in the not-so-distant future popping up in cars and trucks alike, just as they do in europe.

CrazyFoo,
24" Spanks would be awesome I have to buy an enclosed trailer now so I might have to wait on the rims for a few weeks

With an enclosed trailer you will be close to max weight, might need some mods for the Tahoe too! I really don't think towing that much weight I would run rubber bands. IMHO

I think you better stick with an open trailer. I'm pretty sure you will be OVER the Max Towing with an enclosed trailer. Are you sure it's only 7400lbs? I mean regular F150s have 8000-8800 max.

Good luck
